The role of the Finance function is to define financial policies and to secure the sound financial management of the Group. It also provides both external stakeholders and internal decision-makers with relevant financial data and analyses, with an intention to support sustainable value creation and value retention.

Job Overview and Responsibilities:

The IFRS desk at Solvay acts as an internal consultant, providing IFRS advice to a wide variety of internal customers (accountants, controllers, M&A, treasury, legal, etc). We work in close cooperation with our customers during contract negotiation phase. 

As a member of the IFRS desk, you will work in a dynamic environment and will be able to connect with a variety of teams, and learn about our businesses. You will mainly:

·  Provide IFRS advice on contemplated transactions on a wide range of topics (business combinations, divestments, lease contracts, customer contracts, etc), so to assess their potential impact on Group accounts;
·  Provide IFRS advice to the consolidation and accounting teams during the quarterly and annual closing;
·  Assist in preparing the IFRS financial statements (quarterly and annually);
·  Participate in presentation of IFRS trainings;
·  Carry out the bi-annual complex contracts procedure (confirmation procedure of significant contracts that require IFRS analysis);
·  Follow-up on IFRS developments in order to assess the impact on the Group’s financial statements and KPI’s;
·  Contribute to the periodic update the Financial Reporting Guide. It will allow you to obtain an in-depth understanding of IFRS and how it is applied in practice.

Education and Experience:

·  Master in finance 
·  Relevant experience of 2 years in finance (experience in public accounting is considered a plus)
·  Good understanding of basics of IFRS 
·  Willing to study contracts and IFRS in adequate detail, yet able to translate this knowledge into a valued business support
