Job Overview and Responsibilities

The Derivatives Operating Technician is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the Welland Chemical Production Plant (Train 1 & Train 2).
Responsible for achieving targeted product quality and production volumes while ensuring all of the Company’s Safety & Environmental protection standards are met.
Accountable for all aspects of Derivatives
Competency in all areas is required 
Attend required safety meetings and participate in HSE improvement initiatives in the work area 
Prevents spills of raw materials, intermediates or finished products, contain and report any inadvertent spill.
Respond to unsafe conditions and report malfunctioning equipment 
Prepare equipment for maintenance work by isolating, depressurizing and decontaminating vessels, piping or equipment.
Pressure testing and leak checking of vessels, piping or equipment.
Preparing and authorizing work permits.

Education and Experience

Bachelors of Science degree in related field (Chemistry, Biology, etc.)
1-3 years experience in a chemical manufacturing facility preferred

Skills

Must have excellent analytical skills
Excellent communication skills and detail oriented.
Ability to manage multiple priorities.
