Our R&D department develops technologies for the future of additive manufacturing on an industrial scale. We always focus on specific products and applications in order to develop new products and solutions for the Siemens Business Units. An essential part of our work consists of innovations in the field of plant and control technology as well as in materials engineering.

·  Your thesis focuses on data-driven process development in the field of Additive Manufacturing.
·  You evaluate the usage of a laser profilometer and a stereoscopic camera in the robot-based Additive Manufacturing.
·  You will investigate the possibilities and limitations of these sensors for detecting geometries or defects, which can be used to create a control concept or a digital twin.
·  You research innovative methods for the data analysis in real time, create a suitable analysis concept and implement it in our robot setup.
·  Validating your concept by performing experiments on our machine will also be part of your responsibility.

What you need to make real what matters.

·  You are currently enrolled in a technical or scientific degree, e.g. informatics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics or engineering sciences in general.
·  Ideally, you have already gained some experience with programming in Python.
·  You enjoy scientific work and are characterized by a structured and independent way of working.
·  Very good written and oral English skills are required, German skills would be an asset.
