Siemens Rolling Stock are currently recruiting for an Integration, Test and Validation Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary group who are responsible for all engineering assurance activities on a portfolio of products. The product portfolio supports both mainline and mass transit railway projects and includes safety-critical and safety-related products.

The role involves working on the integration, testing, verification, validation and approval of Research and Development software and product lines.

What are your responsibilities? 

·  Develop validation plans and test strategy plans in support of product developments or product updates and support the project manager in project planning
·  Develop system understanding of the products within the intended environment of application
·  Assess the impact of the changes between releases and select test cases for regression and retesting. Participate in producing Impact Analysis reports
·  Run and record product tests and integration tests using the factory test facilities. Generate test reports. Perform analyses to demonstrate requirement compliance where testing is impractical
·  Carry out verification tasks on the product software and hardware development and document the results in verification reports 
·  Author product validation reports. Assess product suitability for intended use
·  Work closely with the software and system development teams, and system integration teams, to identify and diagnose problems
·  Participate in the formal reviews of requirements and designs and other software, hardware or product documentation
·  Participate in the formal reviews of test and validation related documents and safety assurance related documents
·  Participate in internal audits
·  Support the involvement of an Independent Safety Assessor
·  Perform duties within time and budget constraints, and in accordance with the company procedures (including safety procedures), that are appropriate for the Safety Integrity Level (SIL) of the products
·  Participate in project meetings (e.g. test reviews, milestone reviews, change control board, progress reviews, etc)
·  Supervise testing activities and other engineers in these tasks (this will include test engineers in offshore centres)
·  Provide progress reports to managers and other stakeholders
·  Contribute to the automation of test cases (e.g. participate in the formal reviews of automation test scripts and automation related documents.)

What do you need to qualify for this job?

·  Degree or equivalent in a technical discipline (Essential)
·  Ability to work in a team (Essential)
·  Good inter-personal and communication skills; the job will involve working with many other staff (Essential)
·  Experience of software or system testing (Essential)
·  Experience of test automation (Desirable)
·  Experience of cyber-security testing (Desirable)
·  Experience of supervising other engineers (Desirable)
·  Experience of software development; knowledge of C, C++, or C# (Desirable)
·  Familiarity with the CENELEC 50126 / 50128 / 50129 standards (Desirable)
·  Experience in safety systems (Desirable)
·  Experience within the railway signaling industry (Desirable)
·  Experience of configuration management methods/tools – e.g. IBM Rational Synergy (Desirable)
·  Competence in the use of Microsoft Office packages (WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT etc)
