Job Description

Job Summary:
You will be an integral part of the US based Indirect Tax team. You will be responsible to ensure US Siemens Operating Companies (SOCs) are compliant with sales tax registrations and business licenses rules and regulations, while achieving individually assigned objectives and targets.

Department Function:

You will work closely with other indirect tax teams of Global Business Services - Record to Report (GBS R2R TX), a division of Siemens Corp. The mission of the department is to provide comprehensive support to all represented US SOCs for indirect taxes including Sales and Use taxes, Property Taxes, Business Licenses, FL Doc Stamp, Abandoned & Unclaimed Property, and Value-Added Tax (VAT).

Function Type:

You will be an individual contributor who demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge and principles of indirect tax accounting and applies this knowledge through successful completion of assignments.

Scope of the role: This position is a US based role and requires limited travel.

Level of contacts: This position will interface with both internal and external contacts.
External contacts will include taxing authorities, vendors, and Tax Partners. Internally this position will interface with US SOCs to obtain data for tax compliance and audit activities in order to meet Service Level Agreements (SLA) with SOCs and will work with Tax Partners to meet compliance requirements. In addition, this position will have contact with both individual contributors and management from SOCs.

Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance Activities Sales Tax Registrations and Business Licenses
• Timely and accurately complete the day to day work activities to ensure sales registrations and required business licenses and/or renewals are completed in a cost effective, accurate and timely manner.
• Timely submit compliance data to tax partners to meeting filing requirements.
• Timely review and follow up of funding request to ensure payments are made to meet filing deadlines.
• Complete compliance activities to ensure Indirect Tax complies with SOC service level agreements.
• Participate in recurring tax partner calls to coordinate Indirect Tax and tax partner compliance activities.
• Complete the filing of refund claims identified for business licenses.
• Follow up on all refund claims filed and receive funds within 365 days.
• Provide registration and license recommendations and requirements to team members for processing to keep SOC's in compliance.

Tax Consulting/Strategic Planning
• Provide the business and affiliates with complex written and verbal timely multi-state and local tax advice through tax law research that will increases tax compliance with the laws and regulations of state and local taxing authorities.
• Provide level two tax analysis, planning, control and reporting for the business consistent with the Siemens guidelines and requirements for contract negotiations.
• Document, comply, monitor, evaluate and update internal state and local tax policies and procedures. Recommend alternatives to ensure compliance and reduce tax overspending.

• Research, analyze and prepare multi-state business and affiliate state and local tax refund opportunities.
• Recommends and implement process changes that reduce potential exposure
• Prepare and conduct training workshops related to area of responsibility for the business and affiliates.

Tax Auditing/Reverse Audits
• Complete the day to day work activities to ensure the audit cycle is completed in a cost effective, accurate, and timely manner.
• Identify, communicate, and conduct strategic audits/refunds to recover business licensesover-payments.
• Compile, organize, document, and provide business data for state and local taxing authorities to support Business Licenses Lead in order to minimize tax exposure amounts andover-payments
• File and pursues refunds opportunities identified in external and internal audits and identifiedover-payments.

Tax Processes
• Document, monitor, evaluate, and update internal desktop procedures and process maps for compliance activities.
• Recommend, drive, and follow through on compliance process improvements to increase efficiencies and reduce tax exposure.
• Execute GBS RIC controls review and reporting requirements.

Tax Accounting
• Timely review monthly compliance metrics
• Assist Business License Lead with recommendations for audit accrual reserve calculations.

Projects
• Participate in sales registration and business licenses tax compliance segment of migrations for new SOC migrations by following established project plans. Tasks may include: establishing tax filing calendars, verifying data sources, reviewing parallel tax returns, verifying ICC payment methods and vendors.

Educational and Experience Requirement:
• Bachelor's Degree required, Accounting or Business Administration, preferred.

• 2 to 5 years of successful experience in indirect tax accounting, knowledge of indirect compliance concepts, practices, and procedures, ability to problem resolve accounting issues, ability to operate in multiple ERP systems, particularly SAP.

• CPA Certification preferred.
