We're looking for dedicated people with the skills and vision to build a better tomorrow. Join our team as a Rotor Assembler at our Charlotte, NC facility. In this position you will fit, assemble, and disassemble generator rotors, exciters and associated details and parts to engineering requirements. Assist in rotor winding activities (wind, wedge, block, assemble lead components) as required. Perform deburr activities on service and new apparatus rotors and components.

What are your qualifications?

·  Ability to use basic shop math, precision measuring equipment
·  1 – 3 years of industrial-mechanical experience; ability to obtain fork truck and crane license is required.
·  High School Diploma or GED equivalent

What are your job responsibilities?

· Receives written/verbal instructions and information from supervisor.

· Deburrs, fits keepers, fits wedges, and cleans generator rotors to prepare for winding machining and assembly.

· Sets up, prepare, lay out, and shrink misc. components onto generator rotors, collectors and exciters per engineering drawings.

· Prepares rotor and collector shafts and installs glass insulating tubes and collector rings using proper preheat procedures and specifications.

· Perform complete alignment and assembly of exciter and collector bases.

· Perform 4-point alignment of the exciter and collector rotor to the base.

· Wire the base and assemble the AC stator and PMG stator on to the base.

· Assemble the pole-support and install it on the shaft, along with jack-shafts for blaance.

· Set up the Schenck for out-put test.

· Installs all component related pieces on rotor per engineering drawings and spec sheets requiring the proper use of ovens and heating procedures, as well as machining, fitting, drilling, etc.

· Operates hydrogen test system to check rings for stress cracks.

· Assists with NDE of misc. generator, collector and exciter components.

· Operates hydraulic equipment for pulling pins, rings, and plugs from rotor shafts.

· Prepares rotor for shipment.

· Assists and/or operates crane to move, relocate, and turn rotors as required.

· Cleans and returns tooling, attachments, fixtures, tables, etc. to proper location upon completion of operation.

· Completes detailed log sheet, QCI's, and other information as required by data collection system.

· Abides by all company policies regarding safety/health rules and regulations.

· Adapts to various situations and adjusts to shifting priorities.

· Performs other duties as assigned.
