Plant Engineer

Lordstown, OH

Position Overview:

The Plant Engineer will serve as an on-site Siemens Energy, Inc. representative regarding operations & maintenance activities of Worley Parsons’ on-site O&M team. The plant Engineer is tasked with continuous improvement initiatives of the facilities including equipment performance and reliability as well as facility process enhancements. The Plant Engineer will be Siemens Energy, Inc.’s on-site representative, and will carry out directives from the Siemens Program Manager while supporting the Plant Manager regarding day-to-day issues. 

Job Responsibilities:

· 
Provide a primary on-site contract for communication between the customer and Siemens Energy, Inc.

· 
Provide performance related technical support, assistance and evaluation when operating or maintenance problems occur. Assist the plant staff with technical issues and help facilitate resolution and improved operation as appropriate. 

· 
Prepare performance and availability/reliability calculations, in accordance with ongoing continuous monitoring efforts.

· 
Provide recommendations for enhanced performance of the facility.

· 
Maintain knowledge of potential enhancements to the plant performance developed by Siemens for the fleet. 

· 
Review records and activities of operations periodically to confirm compliance with Siemens Energy Inc.’s guidelines.

· 
Provide input to maintenance and overhaul scopes and schedules.

· 
Assist with continuous improvement of the overall operations with recommendations for, developing and establishing improvements in general operating and maintenance standards and processes. 

· 
The Plant Engineer operates from established and well-known procedures, performing duties independently with only general direction given. Decisions are made within policy constraints. The Plant Engineer encounters new and varied work situations, involving a high degree of complexity.

· 
The Plant Engineer must ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner resulting in no accidents, in compliance with all regulatory requirements at all times. The Plant Engineer must communicate information to the plant management and operation and maintenance personnel, relative to the performance of the facility, and provide suggestions for improvement.

· 
All employees have the responsibility to both the customer and their co-workers to do the job right the first time and to ensure the customer’s needs are being met. 

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

· 
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent required

· 
Minimum of 7 years of power plant operation and maintenance experience

· 
Understanding of, and proficiency in, electrical systems, instrumentation and control systems, mechanical systems, maintenance (planned and corrective), economics (estimating and budgeting), thermal dynamics, and administration and supervision.

· 
Gas turbine, steam turbine, and Distributed Control System (DCS) experience is required.

· 
Strong Leadership and motivational skills are required.

·

Working Conditions:

Physical requirements include: possibility of working on feet for 12 hour periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats ,safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.).

Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load, and plant conditions. “On call” status will periodically be required.
