Position Overview (Flexible Location)

The Business Development Manager is responsible for business development and sales of power train solutions in commercial vehicles for Transit buses, On Highway Trucks, Mining trucks, Construction Machines, Agriculture and Oil & Gas.

The portfolio primarily covers Medium and low voltage motors and drives, solutions and all related services. The Business Development Manager is responsible for growing profitable market share in the US, Canada and Mexico through existing customers as well as developing new markets and development accounts.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible to develop complex system strategies (for key accounts), create value propositions for the commercial vehicle markets by leveraging the functional global organization of commercial vehicles.

Successful candidate must have a proven track record of Sales and profitable Business development in a fast pace environment.

The position is both commercial and technical in nature and successful candidate is expected to lead multidisciplinary projects, accounts and market segments.

Responsibilities

The Business Development Manager represents the company as the main point of contact for the customer during the Selling cycle. This includes communicating in a professional manner both verbally and in writing.

Translates Customer requirements and market needs into the global CV organization.

Manage, develop and coordinate Business cases for specific market segments

Manage, develop and coordinate Target account planning and capture strategy, by utilizing global CV organization

Develop cohesive and effective project teams during the selling phase (typically 4 – 8 people) while working in a functional organization. May have several opportunities in different market segment running simultaneously.

Support and engagement of project proposal efforts. This includes identifying deliverables and commercial issues by reviewing RFP / contract specifications and working with the engineering team on a cost-effective execution model.

Lead of contract negotiations with customers

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or business-related field

5-8 years of direct sales experience representing the Siemens Motors/Drives/Automation portfolio directly to the external customer base.

5-8 years of sales / marketing experience and customer account management experience.

Proven prior experience of closing new OEM based projects.

Possess a strong understanding of the various products and services portfolio of the Siemens portfolio, including AC traction motors and AC inverters; along with digitalization offerings.

Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

Ability to provide leadership to the various core product lines through the account team in devising strategy and sales plans to win.

Ability to develop targeted account plan and drive the implementation.

Ability to listen to clients, extrapolate relevant data, and generate a winning strategy

Strong inclination towards personal development, coaching and mentoring to build high performance teams.

Be able to discuss confrontational issues (ex. claims, delays, etc.) with customer

Ability to travel 50% both domestically to customers and internationally (when needed).

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

SIEMENS and non-SIEMENS product/project experience for competitive and alternative views.

Working knowledge of physics, mechanical and digital disciplines (automation, networks, software systems, etc.)

Experience in Electrical Engineering projects, specifically in the areas of power distribution and protection, drive systems and control systems.

Understanding of variable frequency drives (AC & DC) and their applications

Industry knowledge in Transportation Rail & On Highway, Mining, Oil and Gas or related industry
