Job description



The Sales Support Industrial Automation team is looking for an Application Design Engineer to provide product and application assistance/ implementation for our OEM customers.

You will assist :
- our sales engineers during their visit to explain and promote our automation products (controllers, touchscreens, variable speed drives, safety relays and sensors).
- customers to integrate our products in their machines (build up right architecture).
- for diagnose and troubleshoot software and hardware problems and help our customers install software applications and programs.

Application Design Engineer responsibilities include :
- Promotion of our automation products and soft-wares,
- Preparation of quotations,
- Implementation of our automation products in customers application architecture,
- Conversion of existing products by our commercialized products
- Build up new architectures, especially in follow segments :
o Hoisting,
o Pumping,
o Material handling.
- Answer incoming telephone calls, e-mails and prioritizing customer's support needs,
- Assistance to select the right product for customers application,
- resolving network issues, product compatibilities issues,…
- Properly escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams,
- Provide prompt and accurate feedback to customers,
- Ensure all questions (RFQ, opportunities, issues,…) are properly logged,
- Follow up with clients to ensure their applications are fully functional after troubleshooting,
- Maintain professional and jovial relationships with customers.

Qualifications :

To be qualified for this role, you should hold a degree in a relevant field, like automation engineering. To be successful, the ideal candidate must be a self-driven technologist with the ability to work autonomous.
A good understanding of embedded and distributed control solutions as applied to the automation market will help drive your success.

Education Required:
Minimum Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline.
Fluency required the language
o Primary > Dutch and French fluently (read and write)
o Secondary > English

Technical Experience and Knowledge Required:
A demonstrable track record of success in a similar job role, whereby product promotion and support are according to either market or OEM requirements
In depth knowledge of process automation systems and their application within customer organizations.
A professional experience in one of the following market segments is a strong plus : pumping, hoisting or material handling.
The ability to work together with the different support teams, sales teams and marketing.
Working electrical knowledge and experience on Schneider Electric products is a big plus.

Performance Skills Required :
- Proven work experience as a support engineer in the OEM market or similar role
- Good understanding of automation products (controllers, touchscreens, variable speed drives,…)
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills including, but not limited to, the ability to handle multiple demands and assignments, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Demonstrate a flair & understanding of customer support issues.
- Demonstrate flexibility and ability to learn quickly.
- Proven ability to work towards individual and team goals.
