SUMMARY:

The Water Wastewater Engineer is responsible for the identification, development and design of energy and operational efficiency improvements in water treatment and wastewater facilities. The engineer has significant knowledge in all aspects of water and wastewater treatment technology, including codes and standards. They are an excellent collaborator with team members both internal and external who enable delivery of successful projects.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary duties.

· Perform site visits to water/wastewater treatment facilities to assess energy and operational efficiencies and scoping of these facilities for efficiency improvements
· Perform Excel based and/or Industry standard modeling to qualify and quantity efficiency improvements
· Prepare summary of findings report of energy and operational efficiency improvement projects
· Develop conceptual level design documents of improvements
· Provide leadership, guidance and QC oversight of subconsultants in the design development, bid and construction drawings and/or work products
· Develop bid packages for labor, material, and/or turnkey water wastewater construction projects.
· Maintain relationships and identify appropriate subconsultants for projects.
· Thoroughly review project submittals (both material and shop drawings) for approval.
· Collaborate with and advise installation project manager of potential project implementation challenges.
· Assist installation project manager in resolving install issues and customer concerns.
· Inspect installed scope as necessary to confirm delivered design value
· Communicate knowledge periodically and on demand to fellow employees and customers through training events, tools, and in speedy response to questions.
· Other duties as assigned

This position will require approximately 30% travel, generally of one to three days' duration. Weekend travel is rare, but possible.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS:

A BS or MS degree in Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, or Chemical engineering.

·
PE (preferred)

EXPERIENCE:

·
A minimum of five to seven years progressive experience in design of water distribution and/or treatment systems, or wastewater collection, conveyance, treatment systems and processes.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

·
A solid understanding of water and/or wastewater equipment, technologies, and processes.

·
Experience in developing and managing project budgets.

·
Energy efficiency (with an emphasis in municipal process).

·
Excellent communication, presentation and relationship skills at all levels within an organization.

·
Strong analytical and Excel skills.

·
The proven ability to adeptly juggle multiple projects, program offerings, customers, deadlines, and demands.

·
Excellent time management and organization skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary duties of this job.
