Position Description:

The primary role of the Reliability Engineer (RE) is to identify and manage asset and system reliability risks that could negatively impact business operations. The RE works to achieve maximum asset and system uptime by tracking and finding ways to minimize production losses and unusually high costs to maintain equipment and systems. The RE manages risks to attain strategic objectives utilizing tools such as, RBAM, FMEA, RCA, and Criticality Analysis. In addition, the RE provides engineering support in the design and installation stages of new assets and the modification of existing assets as well as provide technical support to Facilities management, technicians, and Production personnel to mitigate operational issues and increase OEE.

The RE will utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and/or Enterprise Asset Management System (EAM) for managing assets, creating asset maintenance plans, recommending MRO spare parts levels, reviewing and assessing maintenance plans, and generating reports for assigned metrics and business decisions.

The candidate is expected to prove their leadership and project management skills by assisting with creating a formal Reliability / Asset Management program for a rapidly growing pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

Core Responsibilities:

·  Perform periodic analysis on equipment database to determine improvement priorities in an effort to increase equipment uptime and reduce asset ownership cost
·  Collaborate closely with site Engineering, Maintenance, and system/asset owners to understand and resolve equipment issues
·  Develop engineering solutions to identified problems such as capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance
·  Conduct root cause analysis of repetitive problems and investigate equipment failures
·  Identify, propose, and justify part/equipment functional equivalents
·  Participate in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers
·  Own and update site’s Annual Maintenance Plan
·  Develops acceptance tests and inspection criteria
·  Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an assets maintenance plan that includes value-added preventive maintenance tasks
·  Effectively utilizes predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
·  Works with Production and Facilities to analyze and improve Asset Utilization, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Maintenance Cost, Remaining Useful Life and other parameters that define operating condition, reliability and costs of assets
·  Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy decisions.
·  Perform work within applicable standards, guidelines, and procedures
·  Perform and /or facilitate start-up and training activities
·  Understand, gather, apply, and report assigned metrics
·  Ensure individual training requirements are met
·  Ensure assigned CAPA’s and deviation tasks are completed on time
·  Utilize quality systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
·  Ensure assigned CCR tasks are managed and resolved in a timely manner
·  Function as a technical resource on equipment and systems, such as developing PM procedures and troubleshooting

Basic Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s degree in an engineering related field and 3 - 5 years experience as a Reliability Engineer.
·  Experience in Reliability Engineering tools / techniques such as FMEA, RCM, MTBF, Life-Cycle Costing, Pareto Analysis, and RCFA
·  Direct experience within regulated environments such as cGMP, OSHA, EPA
·  General understanding of Quality Systems
·  Proven ability to apply technical theories and concepts in the biotechnical / pharmaceutical industries
·  General knowledge of other engineering principles
·  Proficiency utilizing MS Office suite applications
·  Ability to work within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and/or Enterprise Management System (EAM)
·  Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

·  Working knowledge of biotechnical / pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and equipment
·  Working knowledge of general and process utilities equipment such as water for injection and purified water systems, clean steam generators, plant steam boilers, electrical distribution, et.al.
·  Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification
·  Certified Reliability Leader (CRL)
·  Experience with Quality and Maintenance Management systems
·  Experience utilizing root cause and risk analysis tools
·  Project management
