Department Description:

Biologics Development at Sanofi develops and implements manufacturing processes for therapeutic proteins starting with an early and strong interface with Research team.  It encompasses cell line development, GMP cell banking, cell culture, protein purification and formulation development, assay development, GMP clinical biologics production for toxicological and clinical studies, release and stability testing (QC).  Biologics development drives identification, development & introduction of new state-of-the-art technologies, and provides launch capable processes and analytical methods at the interface to commercial manufacturing.

As part of Sanofi Biologics Development, the Cell culture Team is responsible for the development, characterization, scale-up, and tech transfer of robust and manufacturable cell culture processes for the production of early and late stage clinical and commercial therapeutic proteins for our patients.  To continuously improve future production processes and to remain competitive in the industry, CCD is committed to technology innovation, platform development, and working with colleagues from other development functions to streamline process development. 

Major Job responsibilities:

We are looking for candidates for a position at the level of Principal Research Associate.  This individual will join a dynamic and motivated team and will serve as a key team member responsible for the delivery of high-quality experimental data to drive the successful completion of programs.  The successful candidate will have extensive experience with operation of bioreactors and in-depth technical knowledge in one or more key aspects of cell culture or process engineering.  You will ensure that the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance are maintained in the workplace; and operate under the regulatory requirements for biologics product development and manufacturing.           

·  Design cell culture / bioreactor experiments in consultation with senior staff members
·  Independently define and execute experiment and suggest improvements and solutions to address new problems as they arise
·  Document experimental results in reports and assist with drafting regulatory filings
·  Provide training and mentorship for new hires and junior lab members
·  Interface with other groups to facilitate material and knowledge transfer
·  Serve as sending unit subject matter expert for transfer of processes to other groups

Basic Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related field with 4 years of relevant industry experience or a Master’s degree with 2 years
·  Demonstrated experience and expertise working with bioreactors
·  Excellent interpersonal skills
·  Ability to handle some group administrative tasks
·  Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed to cover cell culture activities
