Job Summary

This individual will be responsible for managing a team of payroll processors.  The supervisor will ensure that payroll is produced in a timely and accurate manner, and that payroll processes are compliant with internal and external laws and requirements.

The payroll supervisor will act as the primary contact with the vendor processing team and with various internal business partners to ensure proper payroll processing.  This includes, but is not limited to Compensation, Finance, Accounting, Lines of Business, Legal, etc.

            Role Specific Responsibilities

·  Processing of payroll for multiple legal entities in a timely and accurate manner
·  Manage processing timeliness to ensure completion
·  Manage international mobility employees, including tax payments and reconciliation in collaboration with preferred vendor.
·  Oversight of time entry and payroll processing to ensure accurate output
·  Lead the payroll year end/year start processing cycles in partnership with the payroll vendor
·  Produce accurate and timely end-of-period request for payments within the required timeframes
·  Resolve and respond to issues regarding the payroll and time management system for employees and managers
·  Ensure remittance to all third-party vendors are processed in a timely and accurate manner
·  Oversee third party audit requests as they relate to payroll accounts and remittance
·  Create and maintain payroll standard operating procedures and ensure accuracy as it relates to payroll processing
·  Ensure the timely implementation and oversight of wage garnishments
·  Support the updating of the payroll portals to ensure messages and aids are relevant and accurate
·  Ensure the payroll records are retained in a secure environment meting internal and external retention timelines.
·  Generate reporting as required for the internal team and the business
·  Support other team members as appropriate with the process of the payroll
·  Manage annual special payment processing, including off-cycle payroll runs as required
·  Sign off  for final payroll reports
·  Help to create and maintain strong team spirit and mutual support within the department
·  Conduct appropriate reconciliations (401(k), etc)

Management Responsibility:

·  Oversee and manage payroll/tax team
·  Serve as subject matter expert in payroll processing and legislation
·  Support the creation of the new annual payroll calendar
·  Support the improved employee experience by communicating to myHR any suggested employee scripts and portal updates
·  Support the payroll team as required in all aspects of the end to end payroll processing and provide back up support where required
·  Draft payroll communications from the payroll department for Payroll Director approval and deployment as appropriate

Basic Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
·  7+ years payroll experience
·  3+ years payroll supervisory experience
·  Strong experience with ADP Payroll software (Global view and eTime)
·  CPP Accreditation is an asset

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Management experience
·  Extensive experience with Payroll processing
·  Experience with Workday
·  High level of technical skills – Advanced MS Excel required
·  Solid reconciliation and analytical skills
·  Strong organizational skills & attention to detail
·  Strong communication skills - both oral and written
