LOCAL PRIVACY OFFICER

About the Opportunity

The Local Privacy Officer (LPO) establishes and implements the corporate data protection and privacy strategy in both Belgium and The Netherlands, monitors the execution of the data protection and privacy policy strategy, trains the local organizations on data privacy and ensures that transparent data protection policies, procedures and systems/tools are in place so that MCO Sanofi Benelux is able to demonstrate compliance with GDPR and other data privacy regulations. The LPO is the leading officer and expert on data Protection, represents Sanofi as data controller and Data Privacy Officer, and promotes and maintains a culture of privacy in the workplace of Sanofi Benelux.

The Business Operations & Support Department fosters a culture of optimization and excellence throughout the Sanofi organization. BO&S is the strategic planning and coaching partner for the business. In this role the department aims to enhance and facilitate the performance of each GBU. BO&S supports the organization in business analytics, market research, CRM solutions, digital and multi-channel activities, special projects, training management and Data Privacy.

Key responsibilities

1. Data Protection & Privacy Strategy

·  Establishes and implements the data protection & privacy strategy locally, based on the global compliance strategy;
·  Follows up with changes in law and issue recommendations to ensure compliance;
·  Ensures all queries from data subjects are addressed within legal time frames (e.g. delete their information from our databases);
·  Reports on implementation of the Group Data Privacy Strategy.

2. Supporting the business

Supports the business in reviewing agreements, completing formalities, issuing recommendations:

·  Roll-out practical operational tools;
·  Complete necessary formalities with Data Privacy Authorities (DPA's);
·  Conduct & review local Privacy & Data Protection Audits (PDPA's);
·  Report local actions with operations.

3. Training & Awareness

Train to improve knowledge among employees/contractors. Identify, adapt & deliver training locally. Take care of communication and organize events:

·  Identify local training needs;
·  Support & roll-out trainings (mandatory & dedicated);
·  Participate in trainings by GDPO (Group Data Privacy Office) & train local teams;
·  Organize local events & participate to local & external events.

4. Crisis Management

Take initial actions to address crisis, coordinate with Global Privacy Office:

·  First point of contact local data protection related events;
·  Determine importance & scope of data protection related events;
·  Manage local data protection related events as appropriate;
·  Report on data protection related events to main Data Privacy Legal Expert (DPLE) & DPO (Data Privacy Officer).

5. Data Privacy Officer

The LPO will be appointed as Data Privacy Officer for both countries, and this role will be notified as such to the supervisory authorities. The legal tasks of a DPO are to:

·  Inform and advise Sanofi Benelux about GDPR requirements and obligations;
·  Verify and overlook the implementation of GDPR, including allocation of responsibilities, awareness and education;
·  Provide advice about Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA);
·  Collaborate with the supervisory authority, and being their point of contact.

6. Privacy & data protection organization

Establish and maintain local network of contacts, participate in the global organization (calls, support):

·  Create the local Privacy & Data Protection Office and Network;
·  Coordinate Local Data Protection Office / Network;
·  Report on functioning of local data protection organization to Regional Privacy Office.

7. Accountability

Maintain local data protection documentation on:

·  Policies & processes;
·  Register of processing activities;
·  Training records;
·  Privacy notices;
·  Consent forms;
·  Contractor & external provider's management documentation;
·  Security measures, etc..

About you

·  Master or Bachelor Degree; law or computer sciences would be a plus;
·  In-depth knowledge of privacy and data protection laws and having CIPP/E or similar qualification is a plus, though not absolutely required (adequate education and training will be provided if needed);
·  3 to 5 years' experience in highly regulated environment, preferably in project and/or compliance management (experience in GDPR and Data Privacy is a plus);
·  Multi-stakeholder management based on influence rather than formal relationships;
·  Excellent writing and advisory skills, as well as good communication and negotiation skills;
·  Experience in working within an international environment and thorough knowledge of IT applications;
·  Available to travel across the Benelux;
·  Understanding of the pharma industry would be very helpful, but is not required;
·  English and Dutch, French would be a plus;
·  Excellent Communicator, Service oriented, Team worker, Open minded.
