BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The IP Counsel Chemistry Biochemistry will be part of a patent team dedicated to Synthetic Molecules patent protection and will protect invention from R&D.

The position reports directly to one of the Leader Synthetic Molecules Patent France.

He/she must have the legal and technical skills and experience necessary to drive successful legal and IP outcomes when the need arises, and the ability and desire to work collaboratively with a variety of Sanofi stakeholders, including for example, senior management, scientists, project sponsors, regulatory, legal and IP colleagues.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITES

·  Identify key IP assets to protect and defend
·  Evaluate patentability, validity and enforceability of IP rights
·  Conduct and provide Freedom to Operate analysis
·  Determine type and duration of exclusivity available (Patent, Regulatory Data Protection)
·  Evaluate status and scope of IP rights
·  Assess relative IP position of key competitors
·  Guide scientists, management and project leader
·  Negotiate IP-related matters in agreements
·  Evaluate litigation strategy

·  Good understanding of the biopharmaceutical business and business minded, solutions-based approach to managing IP-related issues

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

·  Minimum of 10 years’ experience of patent law gained as in-house and/or law firm.
·  Technical qualification degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry at a level of Master 2 or Engineer or PhD.
·  Fully Qualified European Patent Attorney
·  Experience handling IP matters
·  EU patent Litigation course (CEIPI Strasbourg) Litigation experience,
·  Law firm experience
·  Biologic Pharmaceutical experience is a plus.
·  Patent Pharmaceutical experience
·  English fluency
