Position Title: II Class Stationary (Operating) Engineer

Site/Department: Toronto / Utility Services High Voltage Electrical system Powerhouse (CoGen Rolls Royce and Boilers)

Hours of Work: Primary Shift Saturday to Wednesday inclusive from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Key Job Responsibilities:

·  Understand & support development of Policies, Procedures, Manuals, Project documents and Charts.
·  Perform maintenance & operations Ist class Power plant to ensure availability of steam to entire campus.
·  Physical movements including but not limited to bending, heavy lifting, chemical handling, valve operation, stair/ladder climbing, walking, standing on feet, working alone.
·  Develop record of sound understanding of Plant including Chillers, Boilers, Cogens, BOP, Startup/Shutdown, Maintenance and Documentation; trace & sketch above ground utilities; share understanding with team & chief.
·  Monitor and record plant parameters and equipment status including RO, Pumps, Compressors, HVAC, Chillers, Boilers, discuss deviation and act diligently.
·  Be proactive in observing abnormality in Plant such as noise, vibration, leaks etc. and initiate action.
·  Monitor emission; Maintain & manage water chemistry, quantity & quality of Feed water/Condensate.
·  Proactively plan and perform necessary maintenance and routine PM as per schedule.
·  Support shift engineer and Powerhouse team.
·  Respond to calls/alarms including off hours, work as relief/acting chief engineer, hold self and others accountable
·  Perform 5-S plant & equipment; clean up floor/equipment/tools/storage, de-dusting of equipment & pipelines.
·  Gemba walk for utility equipment on roof, buildings, MCC Rooms and check for any abnormalities.
·  Complete and Review logs & address equipment/maintenance issues, Use SAP and applicable systems for departmental needs
·  Operate high voltage switch gears, Demonstrate understanding of SCADA and Protection controls.
·  Responsible for implementation of LOTO/Hot work permit/ SWPA/Confined space entry and sign off documents.

Education and Experience:

·  II class Operating Engineer having sound theoretical knowledge of Utilities, Cogens, Chillers, Biolers & Compressor
·  At minimum Three (3) year Engineering Diploma/Degree with satisfactory evidence towards certification I class/PMP/P.Eng/CEM
·  Demonstrated competencies in analytical approach, troubleshooting, shutdown planning, safety improvement
·  Ability to work flex schedule with minimal to no supervision and take lead as needed
·  Leadership & project management experience and with higher qualifications will be preferred
·  Excellent verbal and written communications skills and proficiency in using office programs, SAP, MS project etc.
·  Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to changing priorities
·  Able to work well under pressure while maintaining professionalism at all times
·  Demonstrated commitment to improve safety, work culture and career
·  Attendance, punctuality, strong communication, interpersonal skills, team player and positive behaviour required to foster positive relations
