Job Description

Position Purpose-

Ensure production requirements through the management of a Preventive Maintenance (PM) program within budget, as directed by the Head of Maintenance and Engineering, including inventory control of plant equipment to ensure uninterrupted operations. 

Directly supervise and support hourly mechanical maintenance staff, capturing opportunities for growth, training and coaching within the group. The Maintenance Supervisor will work with the team to foster and promote teamwork and collaboration.

Key Accountabilities-

SAFETY

·  Accountable for the safety of their department members
·  Accountable for promptly identifying and addressing unsafe conditions or behaviors
·  Develop and implement a mechanical preventative maintenance program in SAP.
·  Accountable to ensure effective safety meetings and toolbox talks, with involvement from employees and sharing of relevant information to keep employees safe
·  Accountable for ensuring employees receive adequate training to safely perform their duties
·  Accountable for employees’ adherence / compliance to SOP, Roquette Safety Expectations, safe work practices and risk mitigation tools
·  Accountable for meeting housekeeping standards in the department.

MAINTENANCE

·  Develop and implement a mechanical preventative maintenance program in SAP.
·  Maintain the operation process and plant equipment in operation to ensure maximum availability to maximize production efficiency
·  Coordinate the purchase of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies to ensure production needs are met
·  Monitor maintenance costs and operate within the established maintenance budget
·  Provide back up when the other area supervisors are sick or on vacation.
·  Perform daily workplace inspections to keep the maintenance department “audit ready” at all times
·  Utilize Daily Management with crew to track Key Performance Indicators & drive improvement
·  Support job needs with Maintenance Planner & Reliability engineer: labour, material, tools & procedures
·  Accountable for maximizing overall Maintenance results on throughput, uptime, efficiencies, and usages
·  Use Maintenance Management System to schedule work and document its completion
·  Accountable for completion and quality of routine check sheets, tasks, etc.
·  Accountable for informing Head of Maintenance and Engineering of current, potential equipment failures
·  Execute plans for scheduled down days, shut down, etc.
·  Accountable for troubleshooting equipment failures, determining work around and reporting deficiencies, problems to Head of Maintenance and Engineering. Support Preventative Maintenance and manage PM Completion rates etc. for the team.
·  Work with all other departments on issues.
·  Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Production

QUALITY

·  Accountable to take action / adjust variables to meet quality and productivity standards
·  Accountable for service meeting defined quality standards for Maintenance.
·  Ensure compliance with all HACCP procedures

PEOPLE

·  Direct & supervise tradespeople effectively to execute capital projects & major maintenance work
·  Accountable for developing the SOPs, Routine Procedures, training content, training plans for Mechanical Maintenance team.
·  Accountable for ensuring Mechanical Maintenance team operates at full complement and ensures Maintenance department is properly resourced including maximizing effectiveness through cross-training etc.
·  Accountable for exercising effective leadership – leverage potential by engaging commitment, aligning judgment, and developing capabilities
·  Accountable for performance management – including discipline, reviews, development – for Trades
·  Accountable for selecting, onboarding, and training Maintenance team members in order to develop bench strength to fill current/future needs
·  Address employee concerns, issues and solve disputes within defined guidelines
·  Vacation & Shift scheduling for the hourly staff
·  Timecard/Payroll verification/input

·  Know and respect the rules concerning safety, quality, hygiene and the environment.
·  Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the Roquette Pea processing plant and its operations.

·  Good oral communication skills are required to work effectively with internal stakeholders.
·  Good leader as the candidate will be required to lead the technical plant performance and train the operational team

Technical competencies-

·  Good Analytical skills and ability to look for technical solutions to all mechanical related equipment problems.
·  Strong Mechanical Maintenance knowledge
·  Digital Control System experience
·  Good skills in SAP and Microsoft Office

Qualifications:

Education: Mechanical Technology diploma or Industrial Red Seal license (Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Millwright).

Experience:

7-10 years’ experience supervising hourly Maintenance team members (Trades people) in an industrial manufacturing environment.  Experience working in a 24/7 environment that operates 365 days per year

Specific requirements: Person must be available to do extended hours (evenings and weekends) based on Production needs. Must be willing to be ‘On call’

Business Trips (Percentage): Up to 20%
