Job Description

Develop and Implement sourcing strategies as it relates to the regular and Organic Category

Assess and analyze the results of trials and crop production in order to determine improvements for agronomical best practices according to sustainable procedures for regular and organic peas

·  Implement strategies of designated categories
·  Present and gain stakeholders’ approval locally and regionally
·  Implement strategies for segmentation of supply base and ensure delivery of long term sourcing strategies
·  Facilitate short-term RFP’s and spot buy needs when necessary
·  Lead commercial / contractual discussions both internally and externally
·  Recommend and oversee supplier relationships at multiple levels within the organization
·  Audit suppliers and fields’ brokers

 Study, investigate and conduct experiments on different soil and plant types and varieties in accordance with protocols for sustainable crops to determine:

·  Use capabilities of soils
·  Appropriate fertilizer applications
·  Water saturation levels
·  Effects of alternative practices on soil productivity
·  Diagnose physiological problems of pea plants due to fertilizer or pests
·  Develop insect pest management strategy
·  Develop control strategies to minimize nematode
·  Assist with scheduling planting, fertilizer application, irrigation and harvest
·  Supervise inspections of cellars and fields
·  Promote best practices for storing peas
·  Excellent communication skills
·  Ability to prioritize operations in light of multiple priorities and conflicting demands
·  Team player with an ability to participate in cross-functional teams
·  Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs
·  Understanding of the life cycle of the pea plant
·  Understanding of crop rotation importance and effects for regular and organic sustainable peas

Education:

Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) in Agronomy, Diploma in Agronomy or relevant experience in related field required

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years working in Agronomy

Minimum of 1 year working in Crop and Soil Science
