Leverages customer-centricity to navigate the front-end of the R&D process. Works cross-functionally with commercial, marketing, and medical teams. Contributes to identification of latent user needs, key driver requirements, solution concepts, user-testing plans, and the development of medical devices. Partners with business stakeholders and external organizations to perform primary user research. Drives strategy and implements best practices in the fields of ethnographic research, Design Thinking, and user-centered design. Organizes and tracks own deliverables. Responsibilities • Develops and executes strategic programs of user research in support of gathering strategic insights, testing solution concepts, and new product development. • Translates data and insights into strategy and design direction. • Contributes to customer and product requirements, early product concepts, and product definition. • Ensures the “Voice of the User” and key design principles are maintained at handoff from research to product development. • Identifies best mix of quantitative and qualitative methods based on priorities, research questions, timeline, and resourcing. • Collaborates in a multidisciplinary environment with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., pathologists, biochemists, instrumentation engineers, software engineers, and marketing representatives) to meet project goals. • Keeps up-to-date with internal and external trends in user research and user-centered design; trends in medical device and diagnostics industries. • Builds and continuously improves a robust and thoughtful approach to gather customer insights; collaborates with other teams across Roche to align on best practice. • Presents results to project partners, collaboration partners, customers, and at conferences. • Other duties as assigned by management.
