Please note: We are only considering San Francisco Bay Area candidates. No relocation support is available for this role.

The position is focused on evaluating protein-based drug samples for leachables and other impurities using quantitative LC-MS and GC-MS. The role requires the use of a variety methods to perform process validation, analyze process development samples, and quantitate/identify leachables and extractables. This position requires working closely with other members of the department in a team setting, as well as extensive interaction with other departments. Handling of biological and chemical reagents is required.A successful candidate will be familiar with running LC-MS instrumentation, processing data, preparing results reports.

Other duties include contributing to laboratory maintenance and performing safety inspections.

This job requires strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple simultaneous projects. The ability to plan, schedule, and track work for internal and external teams is essential. Documentation of results and authoring of summary reports are part of the position, so excellent written communication abilities are needed.

Key Job Requirements

Experience running LC-MS systems, and processing LC-MS data.

A good grasp of small molecule chemistry and quantitative analysis.

Ability to perform validation

An understanding of chemical principles related to solubility, ionization, and other solution state interactions.

Strong communication skills, particularly in the area of written reports.

A desire to learn and develop skills related to the characterization of unidentified species, extractables/leachables guidelines, regulations, and methods

GC-MS experience is a plus.

Desired profile

Who You Are

B.S. in Chemistry or related scientific field. A minimum of 2+ years of experience operating LC-MS instrumentation, and processing data is required. The candidate must have a good knowledge of general analytical methods, such as quantitative analysis, and possess good communication (written and oral) skills, interpersonal skills, and be able to present in a formal setting.
