In addition to a longstanding expertise for monoclonal antibodies we are building up capabilities for in vivo gene therapy focussing on the following main tasks:

·  Technical Development and clinical supply of viral vectors for in vivo gene therapy indications
·  Technical Development and supply of Plasmid DNA as a key element and starting material for in vivo gene therapy modalities across the whole Roche network

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist or PostDoc for the development and implementation of cutting edge technologies to generate and characterize plasmid and minicircle DNA in order to advance therapeutic modalities to cure diseases with gene therapy.

Your specific role

The position comprises predominantly the following tasks:

·  Development of a state-of-the art plasmid manufacturing bioprocess including independent planning and execution of experiments as well as interpretation, evaluation and documentation of development data
·  Scientific evaluation, interpretation and implementation of emerging technologies for the generation and analytical characterization of plasmids
·  Driving the science together with a highly enthusiastic, agile and crossfunctional team interacting with development experts in Early Research, Bioprocess Development, Analytical Development and the Clinical Supply Center
·  Close collaboration and co-creation with key external vendors will be one of your key responsibilities
·  Supporting the transfer and implementation of new technologies into a GMP environment
·  Supply of plasmids for R&D activities for the whole Roche network
·  Coach and support junior staff in the team

For this interesting challenge, you bring the following qualification:

·  An Engineer/Master degree and ideally a PhD in life sciences or alternatively long standing relevant industry experience
·  Expertise and hands-on experience in the bioprocess development of E.coli fermentation and purification technologies for biomolecules are key skills, additional experience with disposable technologies would be a plus
·  Profound knowledge and working experience with traditional plasmid and/or minicircle DNA and molecular biology
·  Hands-on experience in molecular biology and analytical methodologies like Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) would enrich your profile
·  A strong team player but capable of working independently with the ability to explore and implement own individual ideas
·  Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong drive and high degree of self motivation
