Job description

·  Job facts

Who we are

At Roche, we believe it's urgent to deliver medical solutions right now – even as we develop innovations for the future. We are passionate about transforming patients' lives and we are fearless in both making decisions and taking action. And we believe that good business means a better world.

That is why we come to work each day. We commit ourselves to scientific rigor, unassailable ethics, and access to medical innovations for all. We do this today to build a better tomorrow.

We are seeking an independent motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on the interface of functional genomics and cellular imaging to elucidate the complex mechanism of anti-sense oligonucleotide (ASO) trafficking. The position will be shared between laboratories of Lead Discovery of Therapeutic Modalities and Pharmaceutical Sciences of Roche pRED in collaboration with an academic mentor. This position will leverage our joint expertise in quantitative microscopy and genetic screening using CRISPR/Cas9 technology to advance our drug discovery efforts in the area of ASO biology.

In this position, you will

·  Investigate new mechanisms of ASO intracellular transport
·  Identify ways to improve efficient ASO release from endosomes
·  Employ functional genetic screenings to find pathways that affect ASO trafficking and activity
·  Contribute to the understanding on how ASOs work in cells utilizing state-of-the-art imaging, molecular, cellular, proteomic, genomic, biochemical and bioinformatics technologies available within Roche Pharma Research & Early Development (pRED) and the academic mentor
·  Expected to generate results for high quality publications in peer reviewed journals

This position is sponsored by the Roche Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. The RPF Program has the ambition to build and maintain the Scientific Leadership of the future and to provide leading Roche scientists with the opportunity to collaborate with talented postdoctoral researchers, and leading academic research groups, from around the world. One of the key aims is to advance basic science and technologies that will be published in top-rated, peer-reviewed scientific journals, if necessary preceded by priority patent applications.

The duration of RPF project is initially set for two years, with the possibility of extension for a third year. You will be based in (RIC Basel) with stays at our academic partner.
