The Roche China Incubator is a new initiative to tap into the power of science and innovation in China. The Director, Roche China Incubator is responsible for the establishment of the Incubator and ensure the success of the Incubator as the Head of Incubator.

This position reports to the Vice President, Finance, Roche Pharma China and has a dotted reporting line to the Site Head, Roche Innovation Center Shanghai.

Roles and Responsibilities

-Lead the Incubator project and work closely with various internal cross-functional stakeholders and potential external partners e.g. government, academics, venture capitalists, service providers, to establish the Incubator

-Responsible for overall strategy of the Incubator. Design and manage the incubation program

-Lead marketing and branding activities of the Incubator to relevant stakeholders e.g. startups, academics, scientific communities, investors, mentors, advisors

-Develop and execute strategy for outreach, attracting and onboarding qualified innovative start-up. Support the evaluation of potential tenants to ensure a strong portfolio of innovators that align with Roche Strategy

-Provide coaching and advisory support to incubator tenants, e.g. strategy, financing, legal/IP, operations, business development, etc, to maximize their chance of success

-Build and maintain connections with government, academics, venture capitalists and angel funds to create opportunities for them to engage with Incubator tenants

-Develop and manage an alumni network of Roche Incubator

-Oversees the day-to-day operation of the incubator. Lead diverse functional experts to ensure the incubator success

-Manage financial performance and budget of the incubator

-Ensure compliance with internal policies (e.g. SHE) and external laws and regulations

Qualifications

-A PhD/MD or equivalent required; MBA would be an advantage

-10+ years of experience in external innovation/partnering, drug discovery and development or relevant experience in the healthcare industry

-Deep experience and understanding of the healthcare industry

-Track record in project or program management preferred

-Demonstrated ability to cultivate, build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, and work across functions and divisions

-Strong team player with a collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills

-Innovative, curious, open minded

-Entrepreneurial mindset, flexible, passionate
