Job description

·  Job facts

At Roche, we believe it's urgent to deliver medical solutions right now – even as we develop innovations for the future. We are passionate about transforming patients' lives and we are fearless in both decision and action. And we believe that good business means a better world.

That is why we come to work every single day. We commit ourselves to scientific rigor, unassailable ethics, and access to medical innovations for all. We do this today to build a better tomorrow.

The Postdoctoral position is embedded in a cross-departmental collaboration within pRED in the frame of a Human Translational Bioengineering (HTB) Center of Excellence. As a Postdoctoral Fellow you will pioneer development of human 3D multicellular brain models for modeling of neurodegenerative diseases, drug efficacy and drug safety testing. Novel models should in particular recapitulate key features of myelination and innate immune cell function. We are now looking for a highly motivated and forward-thinking Postdoc to join our team in an excellent and high-reaching scientific environment.

In this position you will:

·
landscape existing cerebral-spheroid-models in respect to suitability, reproducibility, complexity and throughput

·
Set-up best suited models for characterization in the wet-lab

·
Combine these models with myeloid cells derived from iPSC

·
Explore defined models for aspects of neurodegeneration and suitability for efficacy and safety testing

·
Work in a matrix environment with scientists, postdocs and research associates across different fields of drug development and 3D model systems

·
You will gain insights into a variety of aspects of drug discovery and 3D model systems

·
You will profit from a well-established network of academic collaboration partners

·
Publish your work in peer-reviewed journals and present on international conferences
