The Position:

We are currently in search of a dynamic and influential Legal Counsel based in our head office at North Ryde. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be an integral member of the team responsible for providing timely, proactive and commercial legal advice to the various divisions of the Roche Diagnostics Australia business.

What you'll do:

·  Provide expert and strategic legal advice on a variety of commercial matters including contract law, public liability, marketing and advertising law, data and privacy and competition law.
·  Negotiating and drafting commercial transactions to minimise risk and maximise legal protections
·  Manage litigation and advise on claims concerning customers, suppliers, competitors and regulators
·  Ensure compliance with global guidelines, local laws and regulations through procedural and process control
·  Drive a climate and culture of compliance through training, monitoring, and pro-actively addressing compliance issues

Who you are:

You're someone who wants to influence your own development. You're looking for a company where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions and geographies, and where a job title is not considered the final definition of who you are, but the starting point.

To be successful in this position, you will:

·  Admitted as a solicitor in one or more States in Australia (or equivalent qualifications from overseas and taking steps to be admitted in Australia).
·  8+ years legal experience in General commercial law and/or litigation.
·  Excellent legal knowledge (i.e. corporate law, competition law, litigations, data privacy, labour law etc) and first rate commercial drafting skills.
·  Strong business acumen and ability to anticipate legal issues or business risks.
·  Proven ability to develop legal strategy and objectives.
·  High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas.
·  First class interpersonal and communication skills and ability to make complex legal concepts accessible.

In return, we are committed to providing you with a rewarding, supportive and challenging environment in which you can grow and develop your skills. A competitive salary package including base, bonus and superannuation is also on offer.
