JOB DESCRIPTION

Objectives and Scope of Position

Engage and educate investigators to enable successful clinical programs in early development until pivotal data release Provide insights and information to increase the effectiveness and impact of early clinical development strategy for the franchise Engage and partner with affiliates to enhance launch readiness Develop and facilitate a dynamic network of external stakeholders to ensure that Roche is the preferred partner

Summary of Main Responsibilities

1.Engage and educate investigators to enable successful clinical programs in early development until pivotal data release

·  Enables phase II/III studies by driving non study-execution activities such as scientific education on the protocol/development plan and liaison with key investigation sites
·  Suggests innovative approaches to investigation design, recruitment and data collection
·  Discusses and supports IIS, compassionate use programmes and data strategies that support access activities (until release of pivotal data)

Success measures: acceleration of patient benefit and trial development; ability to drive scientific investigation

2.Provide insights and information to increase the effectiveness and impact of early clinical development strategy for the franchise

·  Maintains insight into internal and external developments and trends to contribute to the medical plan strategy and execution
·  Synthesises information from multiple sources and identifies areas that will have a substantive impact on clinical development strategy, communicate effectively across network
·  Identifies opportunities and new developments and feeds in insights to the organisation from a range of sources, including Therapeutic Area Experts (TAEs), real world evidence, scientific voice of customer, patients and patient groups

Success measures: speed of clinical development process, accuracy in describing the patient experience and unmet need, ensuring strategy is focused on the right things, increasing access

3.Engage and partner with affiliates to enhance launch readiness in assigned countried

·  Accelerates the development of affiliate knowledge and understanding on medical issues, new therapeutic areas (TAs), new molecules, the disease state and the patient experience through education of affiliates and liaison with MSLs at the point of molecule hand-over
·  Identifies investment opportunities, creates and communicates compelling business cases based on clear appraisal of costs and benefits
·  Maintains constant communication and provides development to build understanding, alignment and collaboration of the affiliates with the global strategy, including discussion on the global medical plan
·  Support and accelerate MSL introduction into new TAs at the point of molecule hand-over by sharing local insight and facilitating collaboration with key external stakeholders, e.g. TAEs, societies, payers, and supporting connections and relationships between key experts and local affiliates
·  Supports the local implementation of field-based activities of the global medical plan in compliance with all local requirements and harnessing insight into different cultures and healthcare systems

Success measures: enabling affiliates to be effective in launch (due to increased affiliate confidence), satisfaction with support provided by the iMSL to the MSL and to the affiliate

4.Develop and facilitate a dynamic network of external stakeholders to ensure that Roche is the preferred partner

·  Facilitates scientific knowledge exchange with global experts and across scientific networks at global and local level
·  Establishes and maintains scientific collaborations with global thought leaders and global scientific societies, including patient organisations
·  Builds and strengthens a network of scientific collaborators with a focus on supporting progress in the disease area
·  Is visible as the ‘face of Roche' with scientific stakeholders and an ambassador for the values of the organization
·  Facilitates understanding of Roche resources and connections to customers and identifies how they might provide solutions and support for the customer
·  Identifies and progresses key opportunities for increased collaboration and cooperation with and between internal and external stakeholders

Success measures: Roche as the partner of choice for external stakeholders; Roche iMSLs are perceived to bring value; advocacy for Roche amongst the scientific community

Cross functional Support

·  Liaises with other teams within PDMA, GPS, Access, Affiliates, and provides input as required

Compliance and Ethical Standards

·  Is responsible for acting in line with legal, regulatory and company standards and codes of practice (such as Roche Code of Conduct and any other Roche directives and guidelines) and including all local country policies related to HCP engagement
·  Completes all required training modules as a priority
·  High ethical standards, ability to demonstrate Roche Values and Leadership Commitments

PERSON PROFILE

Professional and Technical Requirements

·  Advanced scientific degree with affiliate and/or global industry experience is required
·  Professional scientific degree (PhD, PharmD, MD) preferred

Experience

·  At least five years of experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry, preferably in an external customer facing role
·  Substantial track record of Scientific collaborations with external experts and/or collaborative groups

Knowledge

·  Maintains highest standards of scientific and clinical knowledge in defined therapeutic areas drawing on a range of sources including publications, meetings, conferences, interaction with key TAEs, ongoing discussion with affiliates
·  Expert knowledge of processes and procedures for clinical trial engagements for corporate sponsored and independent supported studies
·  Understands and maintains knowledge of global regulations, guidelines and SOPs, GCP standards and other important business intelligence resources on a concurrent basis
·  Solid knowledge of drug safety /pharmacovigilance
·  Ability to obtain expert knowledge of company initiatives, molecules, and pipeline
