Responsible for providing design support services by interfacing with customers and the OEM partner to support the creation of target enrichment probe designs. Genomic coordinates or probe sequences specific to custom orders will be generated using bioinformatics processes and techniques. The customer's design needs will be appropriately represented when working with the OEM partner to achieve creation of the design with subsequent support and communication back with the customer for review and approval.

Executes daily interactions supporting probe designs with Roche Sequencing Solutions (RSS) business support specialist, Roche affiliate sales, marketing, field application specialists, technical support representatives, and current and prospective Roche customers. Reporting into the RSS Sample Prep Reagents Business Team and interface with Research and Development staff for support of customer product requirements, new product development, and Target Enrichment custom business support processes.

Position Responsibilities:

·  Create custom designs or interfaces with OEM partners to represent customer's design needs according to customer's instruction and established procedures
·  Works with customers to adjust custom design until customer approval is obtained
·  Gathers and assesses source data and annotation for numerous model and non-model organisms
·  Support training to affiliates on various business support processes in collaboration with Business Support Specialists
·  Prepares, presents, and discusses relevant aspects of customer design business on a monthly basis at RSS Sample Prep Reagent Business Team staff meeting
·  Helps identify process and product improvements and supports their implementation
·  Provides design support for other RSS Life Cycle Teams on an ad-hoc limited basis
·  Serves as the main interface between RSS and OEM partner for customer designs to ensure custom business operational efficiency while representing the needs of Target Enrichment custom business, Roche affiliates, and Roche customers
·  Support CIR for design-related customer complaints
·  Maintains complete and accurate records

·  Proactively comply with quality and regulatory requirements and maintain a focus on meeting customer needs

Knowledge/ Skills Attributes:

·  Requires degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, or biology: Bachelor degree plus 6 or more years' relevant experience, or Master degree plus 2 years' relevant experience, or PhD
·  Experience working with diverse genome data (multiple organisms)
·  Experience working with next generation sequencing data
·  Excellent organizational skills
·  Excellent interpersonal skills, including problem solving, interfacing with customers, and conflict resolution
·  Speak, read, write and understand English and follow spoken and written instructions

Preferred:

·  Experience writing and altering small computer programs
·  Experience with using relational databases
·  Experience with Linux and Bash shell navigation
·  Experience with execution of Perl and Shell script
·  Flexibility in working hours to best serve customer base across North America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia-Pacific

Physical Requirements:

·  Perform repetitive motion and operate a computer keyboard
·  Work in groups or alone and/or in a close or cubical environment
·  Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
·  Speak, read, write and understand English and follow spoken and written instructions
