ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

·  Perform laboratory tests, procedures and analyses according to standard operating procedures
·  Perform, review and document laboratory quality control procedures
·  Operate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
·  Prepare reagents required for laboratory testing
·  Participate in instrument validation, proficiency testing, and quality assurance activities
·  Utilize good documentation practices and follow laboratory safety policies
·  Review, interpret and report patient results
·  Independently identify and troubleshoot basic problems that adversely affect test performance
·  Supervise the work of clinical laboratory assistants

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal Training/Education:

·  Must possess a BS or BA degree in an appropriate discipline
·  Completion of a CLS training program at an accredited institution or clinical laboratory work experience within the last five years
·  Must possess a valid California State Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist) or Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist license

Experience:

·  Minimum of 3+ years of experience working in a clinical laboratory

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·  Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills such as word processing, statistical analysis, and laboratory information systems
·  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
·  Strong understanding of good laboratory practices and regulatory compliance
·  Possess working knowledge of local, state, and federal laboratory regulations
·  Ability to analyze and problem solve basic issues that impact test performance
·  Laboratory automation skills preferred
