Job description



·  Job facts

ROLE SUMMARY

·  Provides support to the Ariosa Diagnostics CLIA lab in assisting with specimen processing and equipment maintenance.
·  Receives and accessions whole blood specimens.
·  Processes blood specimens using liquid handling robots.
·  Assists with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting for all laboratory equipment.
·  Utilizes good documentation practices and follows all standard operating procedures.
·  Maintains and stocks the lab with needed supplies.
·  Position is 2nd shift, Tuesday-Saturday.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Formal Training/Education:

·  Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science

Experience:

·  6 months laboratory or medical experience working in a BSL 2 environment with an understanding of blood borne pathogens and clean room practices.
·  Experience working in an expanding, fast-paced, high complexity laboratory preferred.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

·  Demonstrated proficiency in using a computer and computer applications.
·  Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to quality.
·  Proven ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures.
·  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
·  Ability to multi-task, work independently under general supervision, and work as part of a team.
·  Problem solving capabilities and demonstrated basic math skills.
·  Able to work in a fast paced production environment to meet established turnaround times.
·  Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, perform repetitive duties, and lift 35 lbs without assistance.
·  Have an understanding of HIPAA regulations and Universal Precautions when dealing with patient samples.
