Job Title

School and College Leaver Deals BRS Birmingham 2020
Job Description

School and College Leaver programme

A position on our School and College Leaver programme is one of the best ways to kickstart your career with PwC. All of our apprenticeships are designed to help you develop your business skills through real client work, while also completing formal training and studying towards qualifications to give you a head start in your career.  PwC will provide you with support all the way. You’ll earn a competitive salary, benefit from our excellent support networks and have the opportunity to continually progress your career. Just like our graduate joiners, you’ll work on varied and challenging client and internal projects, which make a real difference to the world of business. You’ll be coached by our people, who are experts in their field, and at the same time, thanks to our study support, you won’t need to worry about paying for course and exam fees, textbooks or revision materials.

Business Recovery Services (“BRS”)
We support clients working through challenging situations, from dealing with the effects of rapid growth through to underperformance and financial crisis.  We are the leading restructuring practice in the Midlands, and over the years have advised on the most iconic and complex restructuring situations.  Our work is very ‘hands-on’ and typical projects include

·
Managing cashflow

·
Restructuring debt and other financial obligations

·
Raising new financing from banks or investors to work through business challenges

·
Delivering operational change to improve financial performance

·
Realising value through the sale of a business or its assets

·
Managing key stakeholders and investors

·
Undertaking insolvency work, where other options are not achievable

Our BRS practice is part of our wider Deals business.  We work closely across Deals (and wider PwC teams) to ensure we give the best advice to our clients.  Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work closely with other teams to get experience on different types of transactions.

Given the nature of our services, the work is varied, often fast paced and calls on commercial, analytical and interpersonal skills.  We are a growing team, who work flexibly from our offices in central Birmingham, the East Midlands (easily accessible near East Midlands Airport) and also from client sites / other PwC offices when required.  The opportunities for career progression are significant.

You’ll be a key part of project teams working collaboratively and using the latest technology to undertake (for example)

·
Financial analysis - e.g. reviewing financial information and applying a critical / commercial view to assumptions

·
Assessing and developing financial restructuring options

·
Creating reports and presentations that set out our findings and discuss these with clients

·
Supporting the delivery of transactions

·
Implementing specific parts of an insolvency appointment - e.g. making commercial decisions around ongoing trading or strategy for the realisation of assets

·
As part of our ongoing business development activities, contribute to the research of new opportunities and developing a network and profile in the local restructuring community

What you’ll gain

You’ll work towards a Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship during your first two years with us.  You’ll also gain a Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB). It’s the first stage of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) Chartered Accountancy qualification and it’s nationally recognised.

After your Apprenticeship, you’ll have the opportunity to complete the remainder of your Chartered Accountancy qualification; as your career converges with our graduate scheme pathway. It’s a fantastic opportunity to join our Deals business, qualify as a Chartered Accountant without the need to complete a University degree, and progress your career at pace.

What you’ll need

·
Minimum requirements are 112 UCAS tariff from up to three full A-Levels (or equivalent) and a Grade C or 4 or above in GCSE (or equivalent) English LanguageandMathematics. Please check our website for specific requirements.

·
Exams must have been taken in the same sitting and resits are accepted only where modules or papers have been retaken in the same academic year. If you have any extenuating circumstances related to your exam marks or the sequencing of your exams, please declare this on your application and this will be considered as we review your application.
