Job description

Management Consulting

We help some of the world’s most significant organisations transform their business. From improving the way they operate, accelerating their growth and reducing their costs, managing risk to developing their talent, we focus on their agendas and the big issues they need to deal with, both today and in the future. You’ll build core skills on a two‑year market‑leading programme where you'll have the opportunity to experience a broad range of what we do, across different industries. You'll have the opportunity to learn about our different consulting business areas and work directly with clients which will help you decide where you might want to specialise within core Consulting.

Graduate Programme

Our graduate training programme is underpinned by a development framework that broadens and deepens your knowledge. You'll learn from hands-on coaching and an outstanding variety of work, picking up business, personal and technical skills you can use across the network, and throughout your career.

What you'll do

After your initial graduate induction you will be invited to four further Advance events over the course of the two year programme. These events will build on the skills you will have learnt to date and give you the opportunity to put into practice that learning. An example of the types of skills you will develop could include managing difficult conversations, business analysis and project management expertise. You’ll also have the opportunity to work towards the Chartered Management Consultant award, which sets and maintains the highest standards for the management consulting profession and is aligned to "Consulting Excellence"; the MCA 'kite mark' of quality. The award provides a framework that individuals can use to plan their professional development and is formally recognised in the consulting industry. Across 5 years, you’ll build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that you meet the key competencies and behaviours in order to obtain chartership status. We’ll work with you along your journey.

You’ll typically find yourself working as part of a team of anything from 2 to 30 people or more, working on projects that can be based anywhere from the UK to the USA, or Middle East to Africa. Our Client projects are resourced nationally, so travelling and living away from home will be required. When you are not on a project you are expected to be available to be based out of your home office. You’ll spend a lot of time with clients at their base locations dealing with issues as they arise, and gaining valuable exposure to different types of projects and diverse industries. Your role may be to carry out detailed analysis, helping support the recommendations that transform our clients’ businesses. You may also work on strategically important internal roles within the firm, where you can gain specialist knowledge from within the network. These experiences, combined with tailored training covering Consulting skills, emerging digital tools and technology, will equip you with the capabilities to really make a difference. Throughout the programme you will be supported and encouraged to take ownership of your personal development, continually learning through feedback from different projects and roles. For example your Career Coach will help you determine your goals, understand feedback, identify your strengths and where you can improve. Before you graduate from the Foundation programme, your readiness to promote to Senior Associate will be assessed against the PwC professional framework to demonstrate you have the attributes required and are ready to operate at that grade.
