Newcastle Innovation Centreis working on developing Molecular Dynamics models of the interaction of detergent actives such as surfactants and polymers and biological ingredients such as proteins and starch present in many different types of stains.The Modelling & Simulation group at Newcastle Technical Centreis offering a12-month Postdoctoral placement, where the candidate will:

·Develop atomistic simulation models for the accurate representation of complex biological molecules such as different proteins and starches.
·Develop high-resolution atomistic models of the interaction between different surfactants and different types of proteins and starches in water. Classify the different interactions and identify molecular descriptors that correlate with the different types of interactions.
·Combine the simulation work with available experimental data to explain different phenomena observed at the macro-scale.
·Design experimental tests to prove/disprove identify hypotheses.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification : A PhD in computational Biochemistry/chemistry with a strong background in Molecular Dynamics techniques as well as mesoscale methods, especially applied to complex bio-molecules. The candidate should be fluid using software such as GROMACS (preferred), LAMMPS or other biological simulation packages such as AMBER, NAMD or CHARMM. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong technical background and a passion for applying science to real-world cases to prove his/ her capabilities.

As a full member of the team, you will have ownership for your projects, leading the development of the models and the design of experiments that may be required to provide data into the models. You will have the opportunity to present your work to Senior Management and work within professional and entrepreneurial cross-functional teams in one of the company's major business categories. Corporate and specific job trainings will be provided to accelerate your development. You will be given increased levels of responsibility based on your proven capability to produce outstanding results.
