R&D Associate Scientist (9 Month Maternity Cover)
Beaumont Park, Leicester
Salary c. £35,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience)
POSITION PURPOSE AND PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
In this role you will work effectively with cross-functional & R&D partners to deliver the technical R&D aspects of multiple Technical Brand Stewardship & Productivity projects on PC & TC technologies for Western Europe through leveraging technical knowledge, applying business processes & creating innovative solutions.
To organise and execute assigned research and development projects for the WE Technical Brand Stewardship & Productivity team covering work streams ranging from full autonomous ownership through to transactional ad hoc delivery.
· Project Management - Develop and execute complex/global projects utilising solid technical project management tools and skills to ensure objectives are accomplished on time, to the agreed standards and within budget.
· Data driven product design - Demonstrated application of consumer product testing, sensory, analytical data to ensure excellent product launches through creation of quality technical product specifications.
· Apply Technical & Business Governance processes effectively from feasibility stage right through to scale-up & post launch support
· Work effectively & in collaboration with cross-functional & R&D discipline partners
· Lead projects independently with minimal input from line manager escalating issues as required
· Contribute to workstreams to improve ways of working across the team e.g. improvement of business processes to drive greater efficiencies, sharing of knowledge to create better team cohesion & developing others through embedding best practise
Qualifications/Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES
· Graduate in Food, Science or Engineering discipline or equivalent
· Management of NPD/Productivity projects from concept through to launch
· Demonstrated understanding & application of consumer product testing, sensory & analytical methods

· Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence with integrity through persuasive communication to win support at more senior levels within R&D and Supply Chain and to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders from different levels, backgrounds and cultures
· Self-starter, self-motivating: able to work with agility without losing momentum and manage uncertainty and complexity in fast evolving FMCG environments
