Senior Training Manager, Oncology Field Force Effectiveness

The Senior Training Manager (STM – Oncology, Field Force Effectiveness)(FFE)is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of training content that increase the skills, knowledge and behaviors of allcommercialoncology customer-facing roles, with a goal of positively impacting sales results.This includes onboarding and new hire classes, product launches, National, Divisional, and Regional meetings, virtual learning programs, instructor-led programs, and other identified training opportunities andlearning methodologies.  The STM position requires prior experience in Training, Selling and Oncology.Additionally, the position will have an important role collaborating with internal EMD Serono personnel (Human Resources,Sales, FFE, Marketing, Medical, Global Learning, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance), as well as outside partners and will add value by providing insight, leadership, and oversight of key, high-impact learning initiatives.

The STM role requires a high level of collaboration and will work closely with the Oncology Field Team, Sales, Marketing,Commercial Operations, Business Excellence, Field Force Effectiveness, Market Access, Human Resources, Patient Access, Legal, Compliance and Regulatory. The position reports to theAssociate Director of Oncology Field Force Effectiveness. The role requires the ability to:identify learning needs, build learning plans, and deploy scalable interventions that engage the learner, and track associated performance metrics.

The STM must have cutting edge knowledge of bestpractices in adult learning, skill development, online and virtual delivery methods, performance consulting, and learning assessment.

 

 

·  Leader for New Hire Classes.  Develop and deliver training sessions and assessments by facilitating the most appropriate format for new hire training purposes – all phases.  Provide feedback to field managers on new hire performance.  Provide feedback to supporting area field trainers.
·  Design, develop and implement all field training materials and lead training logistics on new hire, advanced training, sales meetings, partnering with other training and Oncology team members.
·  Conduct training needs assessments, gap analysis, and performance consulting with key stakeholders.
·  Analyze all assessments and data to identify skills and knowledge gaps (opportunities) to report out to key stakeholders and align to business goals.
·  Leads development of training content and demonstrates proficiency in the JRC/Medical Legal and Regulatory approval process. Works closely with external Alliance / co -promote partners to develop and align on curriculum.
·  Determines the most effective learning mix (i.e. instructor-led, eLearning, blended learning,) for the agreed target audience.
·  Partners with marketing team members to ensure a thorough understanding of products in the marketplace and to develop training to support tactical implementation of marketing strategy. Works with marketing and sales team members to consult on just-in-time training approaches that support tactical implementation of marketing strategy.
·  Develops and deploys to appropriate personnel (via remote and live touch points) scalable learning interventions to improve targeted business outcomes with focus on business priorities.
·  Partners with subject matter experts and other internal and external resources to implement and deploy learning initiatives.
·  Monitors effectiveness of programs and resources against stated objectives and continuously improves the learning curricula, course content, training approach, system, and delivery.
·  Conducts regular field visits to ensure accuracy and relevance of training efforts.

 

Education:

·  BA/BS Degree required

 

 

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS, QUALIFICATONS AND EXPERIENCE(years of experience minimally necessary for success in role)

·  Minimum of 4 – 6 years training experience required.
·  Minimum of 3 – 4 years in Oncology sales preferred.
·  Instructional Design experience required.
·  Must have expertise in the assigned strategic business unit: Oncology Experience within a commercial training department with a successful record of delivery quality and innovative training solutions in an adult learning environment.
·  Product Launch experience.Experience within a commercial training department with a successful record of delivery quality and innovative training solutions in an adult learning environment.
·  Strategic ability to define a clear path in a complex environment, utilizing strong analytical skills to navigate through complex challenges, overcoming areas of ambiguity and deliver well thought out business solutions to seize opportunities for business growthHome office/headquarters experience preferred.
·  Understanding of the US biotech specialty space with demonstrated ability to learn and master diverse therapeutic areas and complex business environments
·  Experience in multiple specialty disease areas is a plus.
·  Exceptional business acumen, deep customer insights and grasp of complex analytics required.
·  Ability to demonstrative creative and innovative solutions.
·  Strong understanding of current legal and regulatory
·  Project and vendor management experience required, ability to translate medical information into succinct and impactful commercial messages; ability to present to all levels of the organization to individuals and groups as well as respond succinctly and clearly to any questions and challenges while presenting.
