PhD: Molecular pathwas in skin biology

In the development of active cosmetic ingredients, we focus on the areas of skin aging, inflammation, and pigmentation. To enable the development of innovative active ingredients for these focus areas a better understanding of skin is required. We achieve this by carrying out research into the biology of skin cells and the molecular pathways they employ with the help of diverse scientific tools and techniques involving primary & 3D cell culture, molecular biology, histology, protein analytics etc.  We are looking for a motivated individual to use these tools to drive forward research in the aforementioned areas by characterizing selected molecular targets and finding new ones. Functional mechanisms and importance of mitigation of specific targets would need to be worked out, along with their relevance and potential of success in vivo .   

 

Who you are:

·  Master’s degree in natural science (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or equivalent preferred)
·  A sound understanding of molecular pathways in cell biology
·  Experience with cell culture techniques
·  Experience with primary cell culture (experience with 3D skin cultivation preferred)
·  Experience with molecular biology techniques
·  Experience with protein analytical assays (ELISA, Western blot, etc.)
·  Prior experience with histological sectioning and immune-histochemistry
·  Excellent knowledge of bio-informatics and bio-statistics
·  Excellent communication and presentation skill
·  Experience in preparation of scientific communications (Poster, Papers, etc.)
·  Fluent English (written and spoken), German fluency would be beneficial (not mandatory)
