Ewing Manufacturing Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Your Role

Supervise personnel and resources on a 2nd shift manufacturing operation. Develop subordinates’ knowledge and skills to improve performance and expand abilities. Coordinate group's efforts to assist meeting department and company objectives.  The working hours are 1:30PM-12:00AM Monday through Thursday. This position will be in a production environment.

The Manufacturing Supervisor will select, train, develop, motivate, and evaluate employees. Assisting in the selection process of candidates in a manner consistent with company policies. Ensuring subordinates are trained for the required tasks and have access to the proper equipment. Lead and motivate through positive reinforcement, encouragement, example, and communication of company values. Organize the group’s efforts and oversee production process. Quickly resolve personnel conflicts and problems as they arise. Report incidents, assist in investigating causes, and follow up with appropriate actions.

This candidate will schedule tasks and processes to meet department and company objectives, which include scheduling personnel, equipment and ordering raw material. Ensure skills and knowledge development occurs to allow employees to maximize performance in their current positions while encouraging/assisting development toward employees’ individual career objectives. Evaluate employee performance and provide timely feedback. Encourage collaboration between subordinates and other groups.  Ensure group maintains acceptable housekeeping.  Ensure information to effectively perform the group's function is communicated and information is passed on to subordinates in a timely fashion.

This person will ensure work practices are safe and in compliance with company guideline, industry practices and government regulations (OSHA, EPA, FDA, NRC, etc.).  Ensure tasks are completed properly and that processes proceed consistent with operating procedures and quality guidelines.  Identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements and expand group's abilities through subordinates.  Maintain awareness of general area operations to ensure that resources (personnel and facility/equipment) are used towards maximizing our overall effectiveness and provide assistance or guidance if needed.

Communicate information to other groups or individuals to ensure company objectives are met.  Pro-actively review 'Safety Procedures', MMFs, Operating Procedures, etc. for inconsistencies and errors and modify as appropriate in a timely manner. 

The Manufacturing Supervisor will communicate group's status, data, and feedback to management.  Pro-actively support company and department policy.  Direct group's effort toward improvement and company goals. Ensure subordinates know department and company goals and that they assist as possible.  Support OpEx initiatives (Blue/Green Belt).  Create and maintain positive, pro-active approach toward quality compliance and safety.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology or related Life Science      
·  3+ years Production, Research and Development, or Quality Control experience in the Life Sciences industry 

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, or related Life Science
·  Knowledge in chemistry and biochemistry as it relates to production and analytical methodologies
·  Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and production equipment.
·  Familiarity with ISO, OSHA, EPA, and FDA Regulations
·  Understanding of basic economics and business principles
·  Knowledge of MilliporeSigma policies and practices
·  Prior leadership experience in a professional setting
·  Planning, organizational and team building skills
·  Technical production and analytical knowledge
·  Interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
·  High degree of mechanical aptitude and computer literacy
