BASIC PURPOSE

Ability to troubleshoot various advanced pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems at the component level on all equipment. Properly maintain and repair equipment in a fast paced, high production work environment, while prioritizing multiple mechanical and administrative tasks on a consistent basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (each item should account for 10% or more)

- Capable of troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling equipment within close tolerances.
- Perform routine mechanical problem-solving on packaging equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM's) on packaging equipment with minimal guidance.
- Support Operations in equipment setup, changeover, and training of operators in Autonomous Maintenance (AM) activities.
- Possess an advanced understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic schematics, and mechanical drawings in order to solve problems in a timely manner.
- Welding, machinist, and fabrication skill sets as needed and required.
- Other duties include some fabrication, welding, and machinist skills, as required.
- Document Work Orders (WO)/PM's using computerized maintenance management system (SAP-PPM Plant Maintenance).
-Effectively communicate with machine operators, peers, supervisors, and all levels of management on a daily basis.
- Provide enthusiastic support where needed and complete other duties as assigned by Line Leader.
- Demonstrate engagement in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Theory and Concepts through participation in Pillar Teams, training fellow Mechanics / Operators in AM activities, and conducting Breakdown Analysis.
-Understand and adhere to Lock-Out / Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, confined space procedures, and all other plant safety/GMP requirements related to supporting machinery uptime.
- Possess essential personal tools needed to support mechanical ability.

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY, RECOMMENDATIONS AND IMPACT

- Determine and implement corrective actions, adjustments or other necessary repairs to meet or exceed production and quality standards.
- Replace and/or repair equipment parts when they fail to function properly to meet or exceed production and quality standards.
- Dictate necessary instructions and/or directions with fellow peers and machine operators to resolve non-mechanic problems in a manner that promotes a culture of team work, collaboration and achievement of goals.
- Recommend, test and implement equipment modifications or improvements for increased reliability and performance, following required authorization protocol from direct supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training

Minimum:
1) High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred:
1) Associate's degree in a technical discipline, preferably in Industrial Maintenance/Technology.

Related Experience/Requirements:

Minimum:
1) 3+ years equivalent work experience required and/or an associate's degree in a technical discipline
2) Ability to troubleshoot basic pneumatic and mechanical drive systems at the component level on all assigned equipment; i.e. sorting systems and palletizing robots.
4) Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to support production needs and to conduct multi-task work in a very fast paced work environment
5) Must process personal tools needed to support mechanical ability.
6) Successful completion of the Standard Timing Model mechanical assessment achieving Wrigley's internal baseline score.

Preferred:
1) Technical certifications and 5 years equivalent work experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Minimum:
1) Possess a fundamental understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, and mechanical drawings in order to solve problems in a timely manner.
2) Willingness to develop required technical skills in Welding, Basic Machinist, and Fabrication / Layout skill sets.
3) Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed in support of in-week and / or week-end production and maintenance requirements

Preferred:
1) Possess an advanced understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, and mechanical drawings in order to solve problems in a timely manner.
2) Technical certification in: Welding, Advanced Machinist skills and Fabrication/ Layout skill sets.

Physical Requirements:

-Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs.).
-Frequent pushing/pulling (50-200 lbs.)
-Frequent handling/gripping/bending/stooping
-Ability to work at elevated heights off a ladder or platform, climb stairs, leaning over equipment.
-Ability to stand and / or work on feet for extended periods (minimum eight hours in one shift).
-Physical strength and proficiency with the use of hand and power tools.
