Job Summary

Responsible for educating, selling and increasing distribution of Royal Canin’s & Eukanuba’s product portfolio to pet specialty retail. Increasing market share by store, city, and by region via collaborative relationships and consultative selling processes.

Sales Process:

· 
·  Follow a full sales-call process to National, Regional and Independent pet specialty retail stores in a given territory (POUNCE)
·  Implement Perfect Store standards through leveraging Category Management selling methodology to gain distribution of core and innovative sku’s
·  Ensure effective and efficient store coverage and take active role in territory design
·  Work closely with Key Account & Trade Marketing Mangers to ensure effective execution of cycle priorities
·  Develop long-term relationships with key decision makers / clients and retail associates
·  Utilize technical resources to elaborate on key product features and benefits for RC & EUK
·  Ability to actively listen, learn and follow-up (Consultative approach) to selling RC & EUK products
·  Negotiating terms and sales programs with professional integrity and win-win solutions
·  Ability to execute in store programs aligned with national marketing calendar
·  Conduct product education and nutritional seminars to clients and their retail associates
·  Gather and convey competitive intelligence, conduct store audits/pricing, and work with local distributor and their associate teams
·  Overnight travel and weekend work may be necessary depending on geography of territory

Knowledge/Skills:

· 
·  Above average computer skills: MSFT Office skills (Excel, Word, PPT), Apple software and Ipad programs, Sales Force, Business Objects, Spingboard and able to conduct online product knowledge training.
·  Demonstrate strong business acumen and able to take action plans for identified gaps within team
·  Proven sales ability and KPI analysis (sales, coverage, distribution, display, cost analysis, sales history/trend)
·  Product education and technical knowledge of (nutrition/pet food science) ideal or ability to learn
·  Industry knowledge (pet specialty or grocery) familiarity with competitor products
·  Merchandising skills and retail display experience an asset

Administrative:

·  Manage account definition types, segmentation & classification through SalesForce.com (SF)
·  Manage a pre-approved expense budget and follow the timely submission process
·  Submit retail store credits on a daily/weekly basis as per region requirements
·  Daily input of sales calls and store profile maintenance to Sales Force website
·  Record, manage and budget corporate Business Development Funds (BDF)
·  Regular and routine check of email, voicemail and online (SF) programs
·  Accurately complete individual performance development plans utilizing sales history data

Other (Physical/legal):

·  Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (qualify for fleet insurance criteria)
·  Maintain company vehicle in safe/clean working condition in accordance with the fleet manual
·  Attend and participate in all sales meetings both regional and national, from 2-5-day increments
·  Actively participate in Team Impact Sessions to build strong effective teams
·  Team player, communicative, strong negotiation and presentation skills
·  Participate in conventions/trade shows where company representation is required
·  Must be able to lift an 18kg bag of pet food

Key Technical Knowledge & Experience

·  Minimum of 3-5 years working in a retail sales role
·  1 year college diploma in business, nutrition or animal science or equivalent level of industry experience
·  Excellent communication skills – oral and written
·  Bilingual (French & English)
·  Technical aptitude (MS office, SalesForce.com, Springboard, etc.)
·  Knowledge of Royal Canin products
