Job Purpose/Overview

To develop, communicate and maintain the Final Production Schedule (FPS) for the Flex Production Lines at the Fort Smith site using the Mars business processes/systems. The goal is to optimize customer service, minimize the finished goods inventory investment, efficiently use manufacturing assets and labor to clearly communicate production activities in the Flex areas. This position actively monitors and provides daily updates to these schedules.

Key Responsibilities

·  Monitor and understand the capability of plant (human and machine) and work with the Operations Department to ensure adequate resources are in place to execute production schedules
·  Help develop and maintain internal and segment planning models for analysis of plant/segment, utilization and what-if analysis that provide cost optimal solutions while maintaining high levels of customer service
·  Responsible for SKU setup and maintenance within the scheduling systems
·  Monitor the inventory of each finished goods SKU to maintain the inventories at or above safety stock levels
·  Manage affiliate (Outside US) production runs to ensure requirements are met without hindering production efficiencies
·  Decide what to run, when to run it and how much to run of each item in order to meet customer service levels of 98% or better
·  Prepare the Fort Smith daily and weekly Operations Summary report for the Single Serve
·  Monitor the daily activities in the factory and update the schedule accordingly
·  Track Adherence to Schedule (ATS), Adherence to Schedule Salable (ATSS), and production trends and make recommendations as needed
·  Accurately reflect the Flex Production Schedule (FPS) daily using the JDA Sequencing computer program
·  Effectively communicate schedule changes to Production, Maintenance, Industrial Engineering, Commercial, National Office, Affiliate Units and Site Management
·  Host the FPS Wet Segment and Scheduling Meetings
·  Serve as the back-up for the other segment (KKC) MPS/FPS schedulers
·  Actively participate in Change Management activities
·  Perform various special projects assigned by the Production Manager
·  Evaluate, plan, schedule and manage line trial (testing) requests provided by R&D
·  Work closely with the Holds Management group to keep the hold balance at an acceptable level
·  Maintain Orion calendars for reliable planning solves
·  Maintain and interact with SAP’s & Red Prairie’s Work Order Management Systems
·  Setup master recipes in SAP
·  Manage ATLAS WorkFlow process to manage new item setup
·  Look at SKU stock levels 12 – 16 weeks out to anticipate production modes, hours and individual SKU amounts
·  Interact with segment associates on Planning and Scheduling (Block scheduling) and exercise flexibility regarding more efficient ways of scheduling
·  Implement new business systems and their changes.

Context and Scope

This position requires the scheduler to communicate with the Master Planner and Activity Coordinators to build and manage an effective production schedule for the ARK site. This position will leverage several scheduling platforms and inventory management programs to ensure that site is producing product at an optimized performance level at a minimal cost / impact to site/company budget and service level. The production scheduler will be responsible for communicating with corporate personnel and the activity planning team to align on methods that attain customer service needs and as well as be responsible for communicating weekly performance. This position must communicate with operations, logistics, and quality to understand schedule misses and current / ongoing hold balances that may impact service levels. Occasionally, this role may require flex scheduling to support production needs.

Job Specifications/Qualifications

·  Education and Professional Qualification
·  2-4 years of college education or equivalent work experience
·  Advanced user training in the following computer programs: Excel, Word & PowerPoint
·  Knowledge/Experience
·  A successful candidate should have previous experience in a manufacturing environment and performing process management activities. This candidate should also exhibit the following abilities:
·  Work effectively in a constantly changing environment
·  Quickly solve production issues concerning the scheduled and customer service using input from all affected associates
·  Advanced organizational skills
·  Work with minimal supervision
