Working closely with our Marketing team, this role will see you being an integral team member by taking responsibility of the packaging of new products into the market. Be part of our packaging sustainability and commitment impact goal by 2025!

The Role

This is a 12-month contract opportunity based at our Mars Pet Nutrition site at either Wodonga or Bathurst site, (choice is yours) for a Packaging Technologist to learn and leverage from our experienced team of Engineers and other stakeholders.

This role will involve problem solving, continuously improving and supporting the deployment of pet food packaging solutions whilst ensuring compliance to semi-finished and finished specifications, relevant Q&FS standards and manufacturing efficiency targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting activities to resolve packaging related issues that impact product quality, cost and/or manufacturing efficiency.
• Adapt pack process conditions as required to ensure that all packs run efficiently and meet required semi-finished and finished product specifications, QFS standards and efficiency targets
• Support site cost saving initiatives (Do it Best) which improve run rates, manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste and improve product quality whilst meeting product specification and Q&FS targets.
• Utilize CI/Lean tools such as Six sigma and FMEA to ensure our packaging processes are optimized to run efficiently, minimize manufacturing costs (including waste) and ensure quality targets are met.
• Collaborate with the Packaging Engineers and the Product Teams to implement any packaging process related checks required to consistently meet semi-finished and finished product specifications, reduce waste or improve efficiency.

What will you bring to the role?

• Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent Bachelor degree preferred.
• Experience in Food Manufacturing environment working in Quality, Food Safety, Engineering, or Packaging/Process Development would be the preferred, however experience in a similar role within Manufacturing environment would be suitable.
• Working knowledge of packaging is highly preferred
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills/ create collaborative relationships.
