Opportunity to collaborate with key players and deliver new packaging development from idea to implementation!

Working in a fast-paced, supportive and experienced R&D team, you will be responsible for introducing new and innovative packaging ideas to market on some of our well-known brands!

Through collaboration with internal key players, local and international suppliers, Mars Global teams; and consumers, you will identify, optimise, design and implement packaging solutions that meet the needs of Mars Pet Nutrition Australia and New Zealand businesses. You will also manage packaging specifications, optimise packaging costs and efficiencies and resolve packaging issues.

Working with our Global teams and suppliers, you will aid in meeting our Mars’ packaging sustainability targets by 2025, while also providing technical support and mentoring of other Associates across manufacturing sites.

This role is located at our Mars Pet Nutrition site in the charming town of Bathurst, NSW just two and a half hours from Sydney. Relocation support will be offered.

What are we looking for?

• Experience in packaging development within a manufacturing environment (food preferred)
• Working knowledge of manufacturing quality, safety and efficiency principles and processes (food preferred)
• Working knowledge of processing, packaging materials and packaging technologies (food preferred).
• Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and influencing.
• Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Design or equivalent degree preferred. Certificate in Packaging (Level 3) preferred.

What would be your key responsibilities?

• Develop, specify and introduce new and innovative packaging technologies and materials to site that meet consumer and business requirements.
• Manage the quality and accuracy of all packaging specifications within portfolio.
• Reduce packaging costs and improve packaging manufacturing efficiencies.
• Identify and implement packaging solutions that meet Mars’ sustainability goals by 2025.
• Resolve recurrent packaging issues that impact quality, cost, efficiency and sustainability.

Relocation support provided.Travel to our other manufacturing sites, market unit offices and supplier sites across Australia is required.
