Job Purpose/Overview

·  The responsibility of this role is to perform analyses while respecting the Mars Laboratory Quality Standard and the Global Mars Petcare Quality policy to ensure reliable results in a timely manner.
·  To perform analyses and maintain equipment in the Upgrade lab

·  Participate and deliver accurate and reliable results within timeliness
·  Contribute to the organization and evolution of the laboratory
·  Participate in maintaining and improving the quality system

Context and Scope

Participate and deliver accurate results within timeliness:

·  Carry out the analysis according to the Upgrade lab quality procedures
·  Produce accurate and reliable results in accordance with the pre-set time to satisfy our customers. Pay attention to the requirements of each test as specified on the system
·  Enter and validate analytical results
·  Keep equipment in optimum operating condition i.e. verification, maintenance, troubleshooting etc.
·  Monitor control charts and implement appropriate actions as aligned with the Lab Coordinator
·  Handle non-conformance and retest where necessary according to procedure.
·  Escalate concerning trend to Lab Coordinator
·  Participate in implementing test methods validated by Petcare Central Lab
·  Perform, influence positively and take ownership of the KPIs of the department:
·  Right First Time
·  Satisfying customers
·  Participate to Ring Tests
·  Service rate

Contribute to the organization and evolution of the laboratory:

·  Participate actively in working groups for continuous improvement
·  Participate in inventory management of reagents and consumables
·  Understanding and consulting the applicable SDS (Safety Data Sheet) for analyses performed for each chemical used to avoid any reaction of chemicals that could lead to errors and safety risk
·  Maintain housekeeping and 5S of all laboratory and common areas
·  Follow chemical waste management system protocol
·  Separate waste according to classification, biohazards or general chemical waste
·  Ensure clear labelling on each type of waste to avoid mixture
·  Process ownership as assigned

Participate in maintaining and improving the quality system:

·  Participate in the drafting, updating, rollout and improvement of the quality system documents
·  Participate in the management of non-conformities / corrective and preventive actions including root cause analysis sessions
·  Develop and implement continuous improvement model to keep up with the trend
·  Prepare and participate in internal and external audits
·  Implement and maintain requirements of Mars Laboratory Quality Standard

Other:

·  Follow quality, health and safety, and environmental requirements of the lab and site.
·  Support innovative programs to foster quality, health and safety in the work environment
·  Work as a team player, including open and honest communication
·  Respect the Mars 5 Principles and the Ethics and Compliance at Mars policy (i.e. conflicts of interest and confidentiality)
·  Responsible for retention samples, collect, monitor and track the minimum shelf life of the samples as per procedure
·  Engage in overall business activities for sustainability
·  Other duties as assigned by Line Manager

Job Specifications /Qualifications

Education & Professional Qualifications

·  Degree or diploma in food science or chemistry.
·  At least 2-3 years of work experience in ISO 17025 accredited laboratory

Knowledge / Experience

·  Experience with laboratory techniques and ensuring the validity of analytical results (Critical)
·  Knowledge of food safety and nutrition is preferred
·  Previous experience in a petfood laboratory is preferred
·  Experience in HPLC, GC is mandatory
·  Good communication skills analytical, and problem solving skills required
·  Microsoft Office proficiency required (Excel as priority)
·  Self-motivated, initiative, team player, safety & hygiene & quality conscious
