Function

To provide skilled work in the installation, repair, operation and maintenance of Refrigeration and Air conditioning (AC) equipment and systems at various stations/plants of the hotel. To ensure that all relevant plant and equipment is in adherence to local legislation and in compliance to Marriott International Policies and Procedures

Required Experience & Qualifications

· 
A Mature, energetic and quick witted

· 
A recognised qualification in refrigeration and air conditioning

· 
Preferable trade tested artisan

· 
Minimum 5 years' experience post trade test

· 
Hospitality experience advantageous

· 
Own transport

· 
Be flexible with regards to working hours

· 
Ability to work independently and for long hours with little supervision

· 
Must be able to read and understand electrical diagrams as those that relate to refrigeration and air conditioning plant and equipment

· 
Available to work on call and respond timeously to refrigeration and or air conditioning emergencies

· 
Be able to weld – silver solder and copper to copper applications

· 
Conversant with 134a – R22 and 404 gases - relevant applications

· 
Computer skills in MS word and excel

Key Responsibilities

· 
Carries out preventive maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and systems

· 
Repairs faulty refrigeration and air conditioning plant

· 
Where required, install new equipment related to refrigeration and air conditioning

· 
Carries out routine checks and logs of the status of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment/plant

· 
Requisitions for materials required for smooth operation of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment/plant

· 
Assists in the verification of refrigeration and air conditioning spares purchased/supplied

· 
Perform other reasonable job/duties as requested by the Chief Engineer

· 
Be flexible in working hours

· 
Ensures that the standards of service excellence and guest satisfaction are met and maintained

· 
Effectively supervise and coordinate the operations in order to achieve set goals and required deadlines as deemed necessary

· 
Effective communication, problem solving, decision making and conflict management
