Job Description:

The Food business at this retailer is commencing a significant programme of growth initiatives and technology is a key enabler. This year is a particularly exciting time to get on board as they prepare to launch an important new channel and make step changes to their commercial, supply chain and online capabilities. As a Product Owner, you will play a pivotal and visible role in driving the success of their business strategy through the delivery of technology.

You will act as the voice of the business, guiding and influencing the technology teams to ensure their work creates the most value for the business and their customers. You will build strong relationships with business stakeholders and understand their requirements in detail. To prioritise their requirements, you will use your knowledge of product and commercial and its systems, as well as your understanding of value in an agile context. You will translate this to your product roadmap and backlog aligned to the business’s needs and drive the technology team to meet the iteration goals.

You will collaborate closely with others in Technology, including Architects and other Product Owners, to drive effective prioritisation and delivery.

Key accountabilities and measures

• Work closely with Food business stakeholders to understand their requirements and how they relate to the underlying technology

• Create a product vision aligned to the prioritised needs of the business

• Develop and maintain the product roadmap and backlog including success criteria

• Lead the product team to effective delivery using a scaled agile mindset, practice and ceremonies

• Manage risks and dependencies for the product

• Collaborate effectively with other Product Owners, Architects, Technology Solutions Leads and Heads of Technology

• Use your knowledge of customers, the market, relevant technologies and the business area to drive continuous improvement and innovation for your product



Key skills

• Excellent people skills, particularly relationship-building and listening skills in relation to business stakeholders and their needs

• Strong technical literacy and experience and an ability to communicate these concepts to non-technical stakeholders

• Experience in the following industry domains / technical disciplines:

• PLM

• Master Data Management (Retail preferred, but cross industry synergies)

• Data migration

• Complex B2B integration

• Familiarity with Scaled Agile mindset, behaviours, practices and ceremonies

• Understanding of value in an Agile context, particularly in prioritising business and customer needs

• Ability to translate business requirements into the context of Agile delivery

• Leadership skills in relation to your Product Team, including managing successful delivery through a mix of roles and skills

• Flexibility and cultural sensitivity in collaborating with colleagues across onshore and offshore locations

• A desire to implement continuous improvement and innovation, keeping abreast of industry and technology trends

Experience working in a multi-vendor, distributed delivery environment
