Search Engine Marketing is one of the largest traffic and revenue drivers for M&S.com with a major ambition to grow both the SEO and PPC channels over the next 3 years. As part of our growth strategy for M&S.com we have made a fundamental and exciting change to the way that we do Search Engine Marketing. Not only have we hired a new, innovative paid search agency, we have brought our SEO capability fully in-house through the creation of a brand new SEO and “Total Search” team to maximise the opportunities that exist between the paid and organic search channels.

With so much positive change taking place in Search at M&S we have created a number of exciting new roles!

About the role:

This role reports into the Technical & Insight Search Manager, working in the total search team between our SEO and PPC teams. Your technical search improvements will aim to drive increased visits and revenues from both search channels.

In this highly visible role you will:

·  Lead and deliver on a comprehensive Technical Search roadmap for the M&S website
·  Be the key point of contact in the search team for all technical projects
·  Work alongside internal teams including product owners, developers and senior stakeholders
·  Audit and monitor the M&S website, crawl data and server logs to identify issues that might be impacting search performance
·  Drive forward a test-and-learn approach to on-site search optimisation

Day to day you will undertake activities including:

·  Site Auditing: Identifying key opportunities to improve the search performance of M&S.com, using enterprise search tools including Botify
·  Site Monitoring: Keep a close eye on technical factors that might impact search performance, such as sitespeed, crawl and indexation issues
·  Technical Projects: As the key point of contact for technical search projects, you will consult on potential search risks and benefits for major upcoming and ongoing projects
·  Search Training : Creating and delivering training sessions to internal and external stakeholders that upskill and inform the wider business about technical search optimisation

About you:

·  Experienced SEO practitioner, familiar with the complexities of e-commerce SEO
·  Strong technical SEO knowledge, including techniques to optimise crawl and render budget
·  Comfortable working in an in-house team without an SEO agency
·  Able to influence and build great working relationships with stakeholders
·  Confident at communicating with both technical and non-technical teams
·  Experience with a variety of enterprise-level search tools
·  Strong presentation skills
