Job description

The Labor Project Coordinator is responsible for the management, scheduling, and development of seasonal and contract employees within R&D Operations under the supervision of the Labor Project Manager. The Labor Project Coordinator assists in the development and implementation of site and efficiency improvement projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Crop Management

• Ensure that contract and seasonal labor meet the expectations of the breeding and research staff.
• Work alone or with others to ensure that crop protocols and crop management procedures are followed.
• Measure and monitor key performance metrics related to both the quality and productivity of the station phytosanitary program.

Planning and Strategy

• Conduct weekly labor meetings with members of the research and breeding teams to provide updates and ensure the success of programs.
• Forecast weekly labor needs and work with others to achieve desired outcomes in an efficient and productive manner.
• Participate in periodic crop walks with the Station Manager and/or the Greenhouse Manager to review crop progress and develop plans to address any variances or opportunities.
• Development of cross-training programs for seasonal employees that will improve the overall quality of work.

Station and Organizational Development and Improvement

• Actively support the station's Illness and Injury Prevention Plan. Assist in periodic safety training.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings to share progress and discuss opportunities for improvement.
• Work with others to provide training and development opportunities for all staff members.
• Participate in periodic seminars and educational opportunities to ensure that protocols are observed and up to date.
• Work with the Labor Project Manager to develop and implement improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Labor Project Manager.

Local Safety & Human Resource Support

• Actively support the HM Clause safety program and promote a culture of safety as a Local Safety Coordinator: Assist in coordinating training, keep accurate records, and participate in safety audits throughout the year.
• Perform Local HR Support duties, including but not limited to: Employee onboarding & offboarding, recordkeeping, employee relations & conflict resolution.
• Attend annual meetings for updates on Safety & Human Resource policies and best practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise up to 12 seasonal employees and partner with an FLC supervisor for the coordination of contract workers.

• Work with the Station Manager to develop and implement station and regional improvement initiatives
• Cross train with Farm Manager and assist as needed
• Partner with R&D HR Business Partner to support people operations
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Station Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise up to 15-20 Seasonal laborers as needed.
