Under general supervision of the Shift Facilities Group Leader or assigned Senior Technician, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, modification and repair activities in assigned maintenance operations areas which may include buildings, material handling, offices, lighting, electrical and plumbing in any of the distribution centers with specific focus on PM’s and keeping all electrical industrial equipment in good working order; and performs related work as required. 

Characteristics: 

Facilities Vehicle Maintenance Technician is the experienced-level in this series and is capable of performing a wide variety of work to ensure that the facilities and equipment are maintained in a safe and effective working condition. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing work in all operational and Facilities areas, depending upon the immediate needs of the department. While Facilities Vehicle Maintenance Technicians may have developed skills in one or more areas, all are expected to be able to perform general Facilities and repair in all areas of assignment. 

Key Duties:  
– Duties are illustrative and not inclusive and may vary with individual assignments. 
– Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities including performing material handling 
  equipment troubleshooting and repair; basic activities such as electrical, plumbing, drywall and 
  painting; office furniture moves and setups. 
– Maintains building, equipment, shop and storage areas in a clean and orderly condition. 
– Completes work orders for work performed and includes parts and inventory used. 
– Document all work order activities to comply with MP2 requirements, providing documented records 
  of the activities performed. 
– Follow lockout-tag out procedures, confined space procedures, and other safety and environmental 
  procedures and policies as required. 

General Qualifications 

Education and Experience: 

Possession of a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) and three years of assignment-related maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above. 

Licenses: 

Possession of a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. 

Job Knowledge: 
– To troubleshoot, repair and maintain all material handling systems in the distribution centers to 
  ensure all customer needs are met. 
– Ability to troubleshoot and repair low and high voltage controls including fuses, relays, wiring,  
  contactors and power supplies from the source to the field device. 
– Provide support to the DC for multiple daily battery changes.  
– Perform troubleshooting, replacement and repair of motors, gearboxes, sorters, wheel diverts, dock 
  locks and dock levelers and other material handling system components.  
– Ability to troubleshoot and repair sensors, encoders, decoders and bar code readers. 
– Ability to work with little or no supervision and complete paperwork accurately. 
– Must be able to work on assigned projects as needed both independently and as a team member. 
– Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and schematics. 
– Ability to read blueprints. 
– Ability to use electrical diagnostic equipment (to include digital and analog meters, and amp meters 
  for AC/DC testing). 
– Ability to work as a team member by interacting and communicating with co-workers and managers 
  in a cooperative and constructive manner.  
– Ability to multi-task 
– Ability to change load wheels on power equipment

Qualifications

  – Minimum of 3 year facilities maintenance experience such as with forklifts, conveyors, controls, 
  hydraulics, pneumatics and building maintenance. 
– Electrical experience with high and low voltage, AC and DC. 
– Knowledge of mechanical and electrical drawings. 
– Proven track record of strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. 
– Welding skill preferred, but not required. 
– Technical school or training desired. 
– Must be computer literate.
