Scientific Advisor

We are looking for a Scientific Advisor to join our Team. This isn’t any role - its more than just science and its more than just lipstick - As part of the UK scientific team who work across all L'Oréal UK & Ireland brands and divisions – you will be central to everything your brands say and do.

YOU WILL...

PURPOSE: 

To advise and provide scientific and technical support for multiple brands marketed by L’Oréal UK and Ireland across the consumer products and Professional and Active Cosmetics . The scientific advisor enables brands to make the most compelling product claims on communication materials including packaging and advertising consistent with European and national regulatory and advertising authority requirements.

KEY ELEMENTS OF THE ROLE:

A fast paced collaborative role working across a number of categories and a wide range of brands. The team is at the heart of the communication of the product performance. The role is ever changing to meet the needs of the business and our consumers, understanding the science behind our products and working with some of the leading scientists and researchers in the world to make the strongest possible claims on communication.

The role will involve:

 

•Daily interaction with Marketing and PR Departments for all Divisions and also Customer/Trade teams
•Review and approval of communication materials for multiple brands
•Regular collaboration with the UK legal team, international claims groups and regulatory groups
•Liaising with R&D Laboratories across the world including in France and USA
•Representing brands from a technical standpoint at press launches or trade presentations where required
•Working with Consumer Markets and Insights team to develop local consumer test plans
•Obtaining clearance of TV and Radio advertisingthrough submission of technical dossiers to the relevant authorities
•Working with Media Agencies for liaisons withClearcastand RACC
•Defenceof any technical challenges to L’Oréal claims

YOU HAVE...

Alongside a proven track record in a Scientific or Regulatory position and a passion for the products in our business:

•Minimum good honours degree in one of the life sciences particularly, pharmacology, chemistry, biology or biochemistry OR a proven track record of understanding clinical or scientific data.
•Excellent command of the English language and its subtleties.
•The ability to articulate and express ideas and concepts fluently and persuasively both orally and in writing, particularly when communicating technical information.
•Ability to understand scientific material, internalise it and “translate” it into simple consumer language thus helping marketing and PR departments communicate product efficacy.
•Strong interpersonal skills and be capable of building good, effective relationships with stakeholders.
•Integrity and honesty, putting the consumer and science at the heart of everything you do
•Confident and resilient
•High degree of analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think through creative solutions
•Excellent product knowledge and understanding of techniques used for claims substantiation.
•You must be naturally curious and hungry to learn.
•A can do, proactive, nothing is impossible attitude – we love a problem to solve in our team and we usually do!
