The Team: The Modelling team help our clients understand their business through building models, reviewing models, data modelling and data analytics. We work across a broad range of tools (Excel, VBA, SQL, Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Python etc.) to support decision making and effective execution. If you enjoy translating complex problems into solutions, this is the team for you.

The Role:

- Devising compelling and well thought out modelling based solutions to support clients in tackling business issues
- Working within a network of modelling specialists, sharing experiences to develop technical and non-technical skills
- Building constructive working relationships to develop internal and external networks
- You will deliver real solutions by translating complex business problems into models which capture the drivers of values and risk
- You will work closely with teams across all functions at KPMG providing solutions to a variety of primarily financial services clients
- You will have an opportunity to further develop your financial modelling and consulting skills

The type of work includes:

- Reducing risk by building a solution using common technologies already present on client systems
- Developing tactical solutions that automate tasks and workflows (i.e. remediation)
- Development of data models to support modelling and analytics deliverables
- Automation of testing and data validation
- Creation of visualisations and dashboards for consuming analysis

Skills & Expertise

Essential:

- An attitude of learning technical skills not because they are required for a project but because the candidate enjoys doing so. All prior successful candidates have demonstrated that they enjoy learning technical skills outside of work, even if there is no current direct application of those skills.
- A first-class or upper second-class degree
- Strong Excel skills including knowledge of VBA scripting and Power Query
- Strong in SQL
- Understanding of relational database design concepts
- Strong analytical and interpretative skills
- Ability to describe complex technical issues in a clear and non-technical way
- Initiative, enthusiasm and excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to quickly assimilate and apply new techniques and knowledge
- Knowledge of financial services products and key concepts

Desirable:

- A recognised finance or accounting qualification and/or MBA or PhD
- An understanding of accounting and financial concepts
- Experience in designing and building financial models in best practice
- Programming experience, especially in Python or R
- Data visualisation experience in Power BI, Qlikview or Tableau
- Using visualisation and analytical software (such as the Power BI, QlikView and Tableau) to drive insights from data to inform client decisions
