The Role

Working in the KPMG London M&A Tax Group and focussing specifically on providing tax advice in connection with UK and international transactions (both buy side and sell side). We work alongside our global clients and our colleagues in Transaction Services and Corporate Finance on transactions typically ranging in size from £150m upwards.
The Responsibilities

The role involves working on a wide range of interesting projects and with a diverse client base. The work includes:

• Understanding our clients’ business, investment criteria and commercial goals
• Providing structuring, tax due diligence and modelling advice on transactions
• Working closely with colleagues in Transaction Services and Corporate Finance
• Co-ordinating the advice provided by overseas KPMG teams and other tax skillsets (e.g. Transfer pricing, VAT, Employee taxes, Stamp Duty) as well as accounting specialists
• Identifying key client issues during transactions that represent opportunities for other KPMG teams to capitalise on and play active role in introductions
• Outside of transactions, being involved in business development activity (e.g. discussing potential assets coming to the market or refinancing/ restructuring exercises being considered)
• Taking a key role on the design and delivery of proposals for new business opportunities
• Playing a key role in people development activities (delegating/ coaching/ mentoring/ performance management) for less experienced team members
• Assisting with considering significant tax changes that impact clients to develop a KPMG house view and taking part in detailed technical research/ analysis
• Managing risk and billing activities

• Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent
• M&A tax experience is not essential but some corporate tax advisory experience is helpful
• UK corporate tax knowledge and an awareness of other tax and accounting areas
• Strong oral and written communication skills and project management skills
• Analytical skills with a practical and commercial approach to resolving issues and providing advice
• Interpersonal skills, curiosity to learn and ability to build relationships
• Ability to work as part of a team and to show initiative to drive projects forward
• Displays an inclusive, collaborative approach and operates in an inspirational and respectful manner with colleagues, clients and the wider community
